Lol nope I haven't won anything except beaten you in every week we've played ever, won the division you are in, come 1st in the conference you are in, won a playoff round in the conference you are in and reached the finals from the conference you are in.

It absolutely matters. I don't know what this being a free league has anything to do with anything. Calling this a "free" league and dismissing it is as silly as calling BBKL a yahoo league.

If Mike wins the East this year, that will be a major accomplishment after Kareem and I won it in the last two. If he takes the President's Trophy from Steve as a team in the powerful east, even more so. If by chance he loses in the playoffs, that shouldn't take away from the team he built this year/the other things he won other than a championship. Another example of this is the year Kareem won the East in the regular season. He had a Top 2 team that year all the way through. Steve has had an elite team year after year and lost multiple times. But he has President's Trophies which should count towards things he's won.

Conversely, if a team like Shoalzie's ever makes the playoffs, that would be a major accomplishment for him.

Naw..I'd say you've attained a level of success, Paul. Your team has improved a lot over the last year. As has Shoalzie's, FLA Chris', Tony's etc.

I've come to realize that this league is a community first and a fantasy hockey league second.

To say championships are all that matter is reductive. "Good GMing" comes in many shapes and forms.
