Does anyone think that the Ranger signing means good-bye to Fraser?

Goodbye to Liles. Franson becomes a lock every night in the top 4.

No, but it probably means that one of Brennan or Holzer is going to be waived, perhaps even both if Rielly makes the team.

This is what I am expecting/hoping for:

Carl Gunnarsson - Dion Phaneuf
Jake Gardiner - Cody Franson
Morgan Rielly - Paul Ranger
Mark Fraser

The Leafs might even roll with Holzer/Brennan as the eighth defenceman.

I don't see anyway that Gardiner supplants Phaneuf as the #1 defeneman, and that is not a slight at Gardiner, Dion Phaneuf is just that good. The only guy I can see maybe, possibly supplanting Phaneuf is Rielly, but even that is years away from coming to fruition, IMO.

Perhaps broken logic on my part. However I believe Gardiner has minute eating/playing ability that Dion does not. Jake playing 25 minutes is not as 'hard' as Dion playing 25 minutes. It would not shock me for Jake to have one of the highest toi next season.

I doubt it. I think he'll be wearing a tie for the opener.

In a perfect world they will be on the same pairing playing heavy minutes, and making each others lives easier.

I don't see any scenario where Liles is on the Leafs 23 man roster to start the season. There simply isn't enough cap for that to be feasible, worst case scenario I believe the Leafs will demote Liles to the Marlies, thus saving 925,000 in cap space.

Nick wroteCOLONit's an out of date rule. It was written for season 1, has no relevance to our RUNNING ROSTERS since that first roster submission.
ehm, this isn't true Nick.
I am the one who wrote that sentence and i joined the league after the first season was completed.. and i certainly didn't write it soon after either.

if anything it's the opposite:
shooker wroteCOLON I agree. clearly a mistake and in fact Bry instantly knew he owned him. I thought the rule was one of the two, roster submission or cbs? We have had this in the past and as long as they had him on one they were ok.
i remember as well that in the past the player needed to appear at least on one of forum roster and CBS roster to be retained.

But since Roster submission is key for us to keep things under control (completely agree with Mike here) we put an emphasis on the importance of doing it properly, and the only way to do it is to keep GMs accountable for incomplete submitted Rosters, otherwise most wouldn't care about doing it properly and all the hoard of figuring out things would fall on CC members...

anyway, i'm going to tell my opinion on this particular case in the dedicated CC thread.

Speaking of the Roster submission purposes...
- check rosters numbers
- point out waiver eligible players
- retain rights of players that may not be there yet on CBS after being drafted (not added yet))
- forcing all GMs to bother about their book-keeping and clean their forum roster stuff at least once per year
- find out and address mistakes/infractions

I am no CC member but past precedent has been set with Roster submission being the "only" master list. It has been carved in stone that BBKL over-rides CBS and is the go to source when conflict arises. It is each GM's responsibility to manage there CBS roster and if there are mistakes or missing or extra players they need to notify someone "before" roster submission. Not trying to step on any toes but I am 100% certain this has been the rule.
