Not Just Kovalchuk
The league is now investigating several other contracts including Luongos, Hossa's and Prongers:

Re: Not Just Kovalchuk
Thats all BS. They are legally binding contracts that were approved by the league at time of signing. Nothing going on and nothing can be done. This will set precedent for future deals but the past is the past.

No its not Kyle. It has been stated in the CBA that the league can investigate/void any contract ANYTIME AFTER it is put into effect. whether or not it happens is a different question but the league has a 100% legal right to do so.mr. bruin wroteCOLONThats all BS. Re: Not Just Kovalchuk
That is sad. I looked further into to it before I flapped my gums without knowing facts and this is right.
NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly, in fact, confirmed on Monday that the league is still investigating the Pronger (seven years, $35 million) and Hossa (12 years, $63 million) contracts.
No mention of Savard deal though. But there is no way that the league would do something to these teams after this long. That would be so dirty. The contracts don't kick in till this up coming season correct? They are clearly deals to circumvent the cap but they should have dealt with them at the time.

oh.. and i wouldnt mind if nhl take away hawks cup LOL (for leafs sake), but that would be pretty bullshit and the league's lost any credibility, if any

Re: Not Just Kovalchuk
Kovalchuk ruling + investigation took 2 weeks.. Pronger and the rest have taken like what a year? Kinda bullshit if you ask me, especially cause over a year has passed on some of the deals.
Also if Hossa deal gets vetoed did Chicago win the cup over the cap, now what? I think this is an empty threat more or less telling GMs stop it and a lines been drawn and won't be tolerated anymore.

Re: Not Just Kovalchuk
Also I get they can investigate at any time, but Kovalchuk's contract was never approved by the league and went straight to arbitration - The League did however approve all those other deals. Don't think it'd settle well if they began reopening deals they've previously approved. Again as I said seems like more of a warning shot to GMs - stop fucking around.
Re: Not Just Kovalchuk
Yes I think it looks very stupid to the league and GB, but then again when was he ever not stupid? But I doubt it would happen.
And i just figured out why, this whole thing will last through Sunday morning, as the NHL is a leafs hater they want all teams move to the US!!! Now we sure won't be able to get anything for kaberle =(

This is fucking retarded.

Re: Not Just Kovalchuk
they are only investigating the deals set to kick in this year... Gillis said he was told that the Lou contract was still pending an investigation... All I see is that for some reason they just waited a year...
anyone got a link saying the pronger/hossa/savard deal is being looked at ?

Re: Not Just Kovalchuk
Yea this is nuts...They are investigating Savard and Luongo too. The Pronger, Savard and Luongo deals havent actually started yet where as the Hossa deal is a year in. If they reject those contracts i could see some crazy shit going down...Vancouver would probably like it as the goalie value in the market has dropped. Boston would probably like it now that they have Seguin. Real curious to see how this plays out...
Re: Not Just Kovalchuk
wow. looking at contracts that have already kicked in is seriously fucked....
