A Jason Blake fan..?

Personally some of the most exciting hockey I've seen.. Streaks down the wing, and shoots it right into the goalies chest.. Then he repeats that, 3-4 times a game.
Exciting stuff.

And to think I viewed Pittsburgh as a threat...Not anymore...Any team with Jason Blake flanking it's weaks immediately forfeits all intimidation, as well as swag. Oh yeah, and cap space :) ,

Number of 40 goal scorers per year since the lock out:

2010 - 7
2009 - 8
2008 - 10
2007 - 10
2006 - 11

5 year average - 46/5 = ~9
Last 3 Years' Average = ~8

Let's assume there will be 9.
30 Teams in the League x 6 players for top 2 lines = 180 players.
Add in the fact that players like Ovechkin, Crosby, Stamkos, Kovalchuk, Heatley, Parise, Nash, Gaborik etc etc are favourites to make the 40 goal club.
Lets assume out of all the favourites to make the 40 goal club, about 5 do so (injuries, offseasons etc prevent all of them from making it). That leaves about 4 miscellaneous 40 goal scorers.

180 top 6 players - 5 players who are a lock = 175 players

Nine 40-Goal Scorers - 5 favourites = 4

4/175 = ~ 1/44

Odds of Jason Blake Scoring 40 goals = 1 in 44.

If there is a person out there willing to give me 44 to 1 odds (even odds for both parties, so it's actually a hockey bet) that Blake will have a 40 goal season, I will take the bet. Any takers?

You're making the false assumption that all 180 of those players are capable of scoring 40 goals.

You're also making the false assumption that Jason Blake can score 40 goals.

both factors that you have listed only make it LESS likely for blake to score 40 goals. did you not read my post right after what i said? if anything, i have underestimated it to give anyone who has the balls to bet a reason to bet.
