A day after being granted permission to speak to Miikka Kiprusoff's agent Larry Kelly, TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger reports that Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Dave Nonis is expected to speak with Kiprusoff directly on Tuesday.

Nonis has been vocal about his interest in adding a veteran goaltender to play alongside James Reimer and Kiprusoff's name has been front and centre. The Leafs reportedly discussed a contract extension with Kiprusoff's agent on Monday.

Seriously, why would the leafs trade for Kipper? I wasn't aware that our goaltending has been a problem this year. What a slap to the face of reimer and scrivens that would be.

Its not like Kipper has been any good this year either. He has a fucking 868 save percentage and a gaa of 3.64...

I don't think we're getting Kipper with the intention of usurping Reimer. Kipper is a backup/mentor/veteran presence for a young team in the playoffs for the first time in recent memory.

Well, if that's the case it would be OK. I can't see Kipper waiving his movement clause to be a backup/mentor/veteran presence though. I would think the guy would want to play. no?

i agree,

i think Kipper just gives some stability to our goalies, we need a vet like him,,,now i'm not saying i wouldn't be upset if we didn't get him, but i dont think it's the worst thing to land him.


however, to help our young goalies i think we need a dman...leafs had 2 scouts at the dallas game again last night, the only rumours out there are for roy or robidas, i personally think it's for Robidas,,,,Roy is redundant as long as we have bozak.
