You're friends are idiots...Last season Denis Grebeshkov was statistically and on the ice, the best two way defenceman on Edmonton, not named Lubomir Visnovsky. He is one of my favourite players, so I watched him a TON.

He definately doesn't lack HS, he makes crisp passes up the ice as well as anyone not named Kaberle and Markov. His posititioning is excellent, and he works his ass off to get back, you are unfairly scrutinizing. Grebs is not your typical russian defenceman. He didn't have his best season last year, but he also played for a terrible Edmonton squad, and was then moved to Nashville where he was behind the likes of Sutter, Hamhuis and Weber.

FTR, last season there wasn't one Oiler fan that I knew of that disliked Grebs, in fact there was a huge thread on HF in the offseason praising him as the future pp QB. It's too bad his contract demands were high, because he was a really good two way defenceman.

I don't think he was ever a healthy scratch in Nashville, he was injured.

Sucks he bolted... that's why I made the GIlroy trade. I'll be holding on to him for his return in 2012.

I find it hard to believe anyone watched the Oilers play 50 games last season...But to answer your question, I watched roughly 15-20 last season, and about 35-40 the year before (and in each of those games I keyed on Grebs specifically)...

Secondly, there are no scouting reports for NHL players, and if there were I would certainly value them over anyones opinon on this site. Furthermore, I said his first pass was second only to Kaberle and Markov, never made a comparison smart ass...

When ya live there and you will get dinner bought for you if you go out to a pub and watch a game with the boss's yea you do. I also lived in edmonton for a year back in 06-07, and have worked out there every winter since. So when it comes to an oiler or flame, I have seen enough of them to make an accurate judgment. I also love hockey, I will watch any game thats on if I have nothing to do. I work 12-16 hours a day every day during the winter (almost litterally from Jan 6th to March 15th I had one day off, no bs at all) so after work I watch the games.

His first pass is no where near theirs that was 100% my point. Maybe I should have said, comparing his "first pass" to markov and kable is laughable. Does that help?

No, it doesn't help because there was no comparison, although in hindsight I think I would put a few more players ahead of Grebs in the first pass department (Visnovsky, Keith, Niedermayer, Pronger) but it is borderline elite nonetheless. Anyways, this is going nowhere so lets agree to disagree.

Keator did confirm the report from The Boston Globe’s Fluto Shinzawa that the reason for the delay in the announcement is that the same arbitrator who heard Wheeler’s case is also involved in Chicago goalie Antti Niemi’s hearing on Thursday.
