I'm fairly confident people are still not seeing the picture here...whether kane scores 80 pts or 120 pts still makes him a one category player. a category that chris has very little chance of winning anyway.

by adding the depth to the categories he is already strong in gives him a better chance to win more overall categories making him a stronger fantasy team? no?

sure he could of gotten more then flipped here and flipped there but overall H2H fantasy value THIS trade itself is a lot closer then you guys seem to see.

the point being missed is that chris' odds of winning are very minimal this year. there are 4 periphery categories (PIMS, Hits, SHTOI, BS), 1 misc category (FOW) and 7 offense categories.

Are you guys saying that Chris' strategy is to win all 4 peripheries and hope that goaltending carries him through?

I think the better alternative would be to build with Kane as his core.

From Topher's perspective (this years):
Goals = win
PIMS = huge win
SHTOI = nothing
Hits = HUGE win
Assist = Loss
Points = Loss
PP-Points = Loss
+/- = fluctuating stat, should be close, nothing
FOW = nothing
GWG = nothing
SOG = win
Cap = win

So... (2 huge wins )5 total wins, 3 losses, 4 nothings... + 2x top end prospects... If Adams comes in the league strong and/or Topher makes a nice pick with my 1st in 2011 he's sitting pretty.

And like I told Topher, I'm not saying do it, but I'm also not saying don't.... its worth considering and definitely has its upside.

LOL topher will lose FOW look at his players. btw, youre kidding yourself if you think he can win ANY offence categories against NJD, BOS or WSH (assume my injuries etc exclude me). but those other 3 topher can't beat in any offence categories. the minute he faces them in the playoffs it becomes:

Goals = loss
PIMS = win
SHTOI = nothing
Hits = win
Assist = Loss
Points = Loss
PP-Points = Loss
+/- = loss
FOW = loss
GWG = loss
SOG = loss
BS = win

to me thats a 3-8-1 record in skater categories. even if he sweeps goalie categories he wont beat those teams. so why try to compete? why not rebuild like MIN? (hes the best example as both BUF and MIN have a good group of assets that arent ready to contend yet)

right but the ONLY reason to make this trade is to compete. not to rebuild. which is the complete opposite of what Chris should be doing. not only that lol but Chris just lowered the value of his own draft picks as he will finish higher in the standings. so he will get less for those picks in trades and if he chooses to pick a player with those picks he will get a player at a lower pick.

thats funny because I also got eric staal when I traded kaner. I agree with the majority on this one and say mike wins. To mash and facey's argument, I dont think anyone, well maybe shiv, is saying this doesnt help certain stats but just the fact that he could have managed a way bigger payoff then this.

I feel like I picked a bad weekend to not be in trade negotiations.

I lose out on Couture because, when I repeated 3 times, don't make the trade until I get home so I can try and beat it. And now I see Kane for for this price.

Not saying I would have paid for Kane, but it's still shitty to see..

Anyways, I'm still bitter about Couture .. now to go kill myself.

Just 3 inches.

note: I (nick) made that edit, I thought I hit quote, kareem did not admit to having a small dick, though it would have been very funny.

Like everybody else is saying, I get why he made the trade but I just feel he could have gotten better players that hit the same stats.

I see this similar to the Sedin deal. D. Sedin and Kane are offensive guys only. The first in the deal could very well be 1st overall in 2011. That is nice. I agree with most that he could have gotten a much greater return had he shopped him but the return is not horrible. I guess it depends on what he wants to do. He did acquire some nice stats. But he lost a fair margin of offense.
