Is Dekeyser eligible for the draft? He's not signed to a team...had him pegged for next year's waiver draft.

guess so
Automatically eligible for the 2012/2013 Waiver draft are ALL bbkl-free players who were:
- born before january 1st 1993, if they played a season in N.A. when 18,19 or 20yrs old
- born before january 1st 1992, if they never played in N.A. when 18,19 or 20yrs old

Additionally, bbkl-free players already signed to a NHL contract are eligible as well, even if born later than that.

I'm not trying to stir shit...I'm just trying to figure out how certain guys are eligible and some aren't. I didn't think would could draft overaged college players prior to them signing contracts but maybe I should focus more on their ages.

Originally supposed to be for signed players I believe (and not prospects)? except he was rumoured to be signing and would have been a legit pick before the NCAA season started. All good IMO. Weird year given the NHL starting so far after the other leagues...

Moving forward I think unsigned, non-draft eligible (players past entry draft age) players & european UFA's in addition to hidden gem AHL/NHLers should be target for our waiver drafts

If I misread another draft rule then shame on me. I got confused over Tyler Bunz thing with the entry draft and now I had just assumed only guys with contracts only could be drafted in the waiver draft. Dekeyser passed on signing an ELC with a team this past year but he'll definitely find a home after this year. Good on Kyle...arguably the steal of the draft. I guess I didn't do ALL my homework...

yeah, Dan Dekeyser is obviously eligible being a bbkl-free '90 born, since:
Automatically eligible for the 2012/2013 Waiver draft are ALL bbkl-free players who were:
- born before january 1st 1993, if they played a season in N.A. when 18,19 or 20yrs old
or, if it's clearer:
a probably easier way to look at the pool of eligible players:
- any bbkl-free player born in 1991 or before is available
- bbkl-free players born in 1992 are available as well if they played in N.A. at 18, or/and at 19, or/and at 20
- any bbkl-free player under NHL contract is available

I think 12am-6am EST should be a blackout period where the "8 hour time limit" does not apply. Wouldn't be fair to go on the clock at 11pm and expire at 7am and be required to go on BBKL as soon as you get up in the morning to make a pick.

Yes, sure, I realize you could leave your pick with somebody, but with an 8 hour time limit a blackout period should be in effect overnight IMO.
