Hank...swoon. ;)

Marleau is the better fantasy player right now but Zetterberg has more of a shelf life and better cap hit. It was a smart move for Anton to add a center considering how loaded he is at wing and how weak he was at center. Hank does take more draws with the Wings than Marleau does with the Sharks so you lose that center aspect but both play in all situations for their respective teams. Certainly with offensive production, Marleau is one of the top guys in the league right now. Also the knock on Hank is his health...back, groin, etc.

I'll give the initial nod to Anton for getting the better player right now.

i think Z's injury "issues" are largely overblown.

74, 77, and 76 games in the last 3 seasons is way too much playing time for him to be considered an injury concern.

but other than that, i agree with your breakdown. i needed a C badly and kyle was stacked there and needed help specifically on the left side. it simply worked for both sides...and that really showed in just how easy the deal was to negotiate haha.

It is a very lateral move but beneficial for both. He needed a center and I needed a winger. I saved .8 in cap which is actually very important to me right now. both are very similar in age and both kill penalty's and take FOW. Where Marleau takes the edge on Zetts is with BS and HITS. Not much but enough to stick out. I am going on the factor that Marleau had a career year last year and zetterberg had a down year...lol So hoping it balances out o be a bit more even. Either way pretty non-risky move on both our parts.

He plays a lot of hockey (regular season/playoffs/international) and he plays so hard...he's always a ticking time bomb. Certainly as a Wings fan, I never want the clock to strike 0:00. It's really a mild risk at best. You traded a very good player and got a very good player back. That was a really solid deal you guys just swung.

mmmh.. he is getting Marleau, the very same guy you considered a winger the other day in our chat. I told you he is listed as C on CBS, but you replied it doesn't matter, that he will be a right winger for sure..

You are right Kyuss, And i didn't lie to you. He will get dual eligibility C, RW. Remember half of the time he plays with those other two no-namers Heatley and Thornton? Now do you think Thornton plays wing on that line? He needed a center eligible player. He now has one. The stats between both are almost identical. Lateral trade.

damn. Okay I wanted Zetterberg because he is a LEFT winger and it balances my team on paper. It will help me sleep at night. And one of the main reasons I was saving .8 in cap space.

lets be honest kyle. Z>marleau. Left wing faceoffs better contract. Chicago did not solve any problems at center with this deal.

I thought it was even an even deal, however comments like this

cause to me to take a proper look a the trade (as if I was in it).

http://bbkl.hockey.cbssports.com/player ... :p/scoring -> anyone who doesn't check the comparison during a trade is out of their mind... so. Marleau wins 5 stats, Zetty wins 5 stats, although to be fair, Marleau wins his by NOTABLY more...Similar in age, both on great teams...

Looking deeping into it, this trade still looks very even on all accounts..... I'd prefer to be on the Irish side of this deal, but neither looks to be a loser. However I don't buy the C/W issues, both are clearly dual eligible players.

So why is Z better? because the media loves the Wings and hates on the Sharks?

Yea, Lee has it right. I don't do any trades that are not well thought out and planned for. Anton did the same thing. Actually we did it together. So while you may have an opinion on who may or may not win or lose a trade, at least do some research to back up your one liner if you are called out on it. ;) Look at 3 year averages. career highs, lows, contracts, individual stats, linemates, team status, etc. You wonder why its hard to make a deal with me if you are trying to give me 4 6th round picks for a young fulltime player ;) I ain't no rookie...

Compare careers...Marleau had BY FAR his best season last year, and in a contract year, whereas Zetterberg had one of his worst, not a very good idea to compare last seasons stats in isolation. Marleau has proven to be a shakey, sometimes invisible player over his career, whereas Zetterberg has proven to be a consistent ppg player when healthy. I'll take him over Marleau every day of the week and twice on Tuesday.

LOL. You guys make it sound like a one sided deal. It is one the most LATERAL deals ever in BBKL. Look at all the stats, age, teams, cap, etc...make a case how they are not as equal as you can get....

nm, you already did above^^
