Re: Fantasy Baseball Keeper League
What statistics are we using, and what website? I much prefer Yahoo over ESPN. Additionally, if this league is H2H I'm not interested. Nothing is more meaningless and unpredictable than a week's worth of sample data in baseball. Roto is the only way to go in a baseball league.

All of these are something we need to talk about, we'll have to start getting together (on msn) soon and going over some of the topics.MSP4LYFE wroteCOLONWhat statistics are we using, and what website? For example: cap, roto vs H2H, number of prospects each team keeps (max roster limit), statistics we use. We'll make this league as close to the bbkl as possible. A deep league that grows every year.

Re: Fantasy Baseball Keeper League
What would be fun is a 30-team league with full 25-man rosters along with a large minor league/prospect pool (40-man roster with a reserve prospects?). I don't know how you'd do salaries because is there even a CapGeek for baseball contracts?
It would be fun to run organizations and draft new rookies each year and maybe come up with a way to have a free agency element and not just have trades and draft as the only way to get players.

This was sort of the direction i was thinking, maybe even have a bigger max roster size of 50 or 60? there are a lot of good prospects out there, we could even run a full triple A team (so 25ish prospects)Shoalzie wroteCOLONWhat would be fun is a 30-team league with full 25-man rosters along with a large minor league/prospect pool (40-man roster with a reserve prospects?). I'm pretty sure I have at least one friend who'd be willing to join this if we get it going, seeing as not all 30 members of BBKL will be joining us.

40 man roster.
25 man ACTIVE roster.
Only players on the 40 man can be called up to the active roster.
20-25 prospects (aka non 40 man players).

Yeah, this is pretty standard, and makes the most sense.bcool wroteCOLON40 man roster.

I was thinking for the teams we'd have a sign up list. Anyone who wanted the Jays could put them name beside them and they would go into a hat to be drawn, seems to make the most logic?
Re: Fantasy Baseball Keeper League
On a side note, if you need any help with this league, I volunteer to help out as part of CC/admin/moderating etc as baseball is a big passion of mine and we are all starting new and fresh here.

I like competing with you guys and you're a good group overall...this is a great idea.
So, no salary element involved?

Shoalzie, would you want to be on the CC?
Im not sure about a Salary cap yet, might be hard in year 1, but it's something we could certainly discuss.

Seems like we'll use the rosters at the time when all 30 teams have been claimed. I believe we'll use the 40 man rosters as they stand on that given date and then we select our pool of prospect out of our team's farm system. Free agents and any unclaimed prospects would be available in some fashion, I'd imagine.

so that means if i picked the mariners, most of my better prospects (walker, zunino, franklin) will be left out? or are we gonna pick our 40 man roster from our team?

Why have a salary cap? There is no cap limit in baseball, and with the new TV revenue coming in FA salaries are going through the roof.Fair Deals Steve wroteCOLONShoalzie, would you want to be on the CC?

You get the 40-man roster and then you put together an extra group of prospects for your actual team...guys from all levels. You'll get an extra pool of prospects to pull up to your 40-man roster.
From what I've read on 40-man rosters...you have your active 25 on the MLB level and you can freely call up guys from the minors that are part of the 40-man roster. If you call up a player off the 40-man roster, you have to waive a guy from the 40-man to make room.
