mr. bruin wroteCOLONThe NHL should not be worried about the loss of the casual fan. They should be worried about the die hard fans who are finally getting fed up and sick of this BS. I know I am one of them. If it wasnt for BBKL and fantasy in general, I wouldn't be so quick to endorse the product of the game i love. It is really getting very old. I only wish NFL went on until April or so...
I was thinking the other way around personally. Unless this lasts a couple of years there is no way I'd simply stop watching the NHL.

On the other hand I, as a casual fan, didn't watch much basketball last year after watching most of the playoffs the year before.

if there was fantasy CHL, i honestly dont think I'd have that hard a time giving up the NHL at this point. I've watched more hockey this season than I ever have.

Commissioner Gary Bettman proposed Thursday that the leadership from both sides step aside for the next bargaining session, leaving a group of owners and players to try and break the stalemate. The specific parameters of the meeting weren't set out and the NHLPA said it would take the offer to its executive board and negotiating committee for consideration.

Bettman's proposal came with the sides unable to bridge a gap in collective bargaining negotiations despite sitting through a series of sessions with U.S. federal mediators Scot L. Beckenbaugh and John Sweeney in Woodbridge, N.J., this week.
- Per TSN

I must say, i think Bettman is doing everything possible to end this lockout. I'm definitely not picking sides, but it seems as if Bettman is getting tired of Fehr and his directors.

Finally, letting the people directly impacted in this situation figure it out (players vs owners)

Ryan O'Reilly signs a 2 year KHL deal with a verbal Out clause, being if the club thinks the NHL offer is better , they will release him. Quoted as saying he wil complete atleast this year in the KHL, regardless of the lOckout ending.
