The BBKL Sweet 16 - August 31, 2012
*Note: Division rankings have not been taken into account. Just the best 8 teams from each conference.
Eastern Conference
1. BOS – Say hello to the Championship favourites
2. TOR – McDonagh and Sharp added this week. Look out.
3. OTT – Might be better than the two from the NorthEast ranked ahead of him.
4. NJD – Favourite to win the Atlantic again
5. PIT – May have acquired Ryan Miller, but plummets in rankings due to severe lack of depth
6. WSH – #1 Team in the East last year is still intact. Does Kareem get a ring if this team wins the championship?
7. TBL – One Sidney Crosby trade away from being #1 on this list.
8. MTL – Will likely sneak in ahead of NYR and NYI but Round 1 exit likely as of now.
Western Conference
1. LAK – Similar to SJS in the NHL between 2007-2009. Western Conference favourites but can they win it all in the Playoffs?
2. COL – Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Sean Couturier on top of an elite roster headlined by Corey Perry and Zdeno Chara.
3. CLB – This is the dark horse. The championship contender no one talks about (Bit of a catch-22 now that I’ve talked about it)
4. SJS – No longer rebuilding. Don’t be surprised if this team finds a way to win the Pacific.
5. VAN – There’s a new Sheriff in town.
6. CHI – Reigning champs tore it down in a week, but Anton can build this team back up just as fast.
7. MIN – Luongo still a question mark but Division champs from last year could repeat.
8. NSH – Yes, Mik – you’ll make the playoffs .

There is no way you can put Chicago as the 2nd best team in the West. You can't just assume and predict he's going to trade all his futures for NHLers to take a run again. Absurd.
And before you comment that I'm only saying that because you didn't put me in the top 8, it's not true. I don't care.. my Wingers and Defense are terrible. Bottom 10 in the league. Just that Chicago in the playoffs, let alone 2nd in the West is 100% retarded.

Lol that's actually a typo. I was using my post from last time and moved Steve up but forgot to move Anton down. Brain fart. Fixing it now

I almost put him at 8th seed...not sure if I should've but I don't know if shep's team is better than any of the other 7.bills09 wroteCOLONNo Shep=Crazy Talk

Yeah I guess. But Anton holds assets of higher value right now which can be turned into a better BBKL team than Shep's. How many teams in the past who have torn it down like this kept their promise (Scott, Kareem, Myself, Anton)? Anton won the championship and hasn't really lost value with the trades he's made.bills09 wroteCOLONPutting Chicago is silly..are you ranking the gms or the teams?

troll
This feels like you didn't look at the teams, just wanted to shout out some love to a few GMs.

i have no intention of rebuilding into a contender so you can take me off of there. appreciate the faith you have in my GM skills though. but im going to watch this young team grow.
ill have the most exciting team in BBKL if there's a lockout

I see the plan now BBKL champ first, then dominate junior during the lockout ehanton wroteCOLONi have no intention of rebuilding into a contender so you can take me off of there. appreciate the faith you have in my GM skills though. but im going to watch this young team grow.

hint: if there is a lockout, think of all the value my junior kids/AHLers will have after completely dominating for an entire year while everyone has nothing to watch but them.

This makes no sense. But, they are your rankings and somehow a team of rookies is better than Mik's and hong's team of legit NHLers.SuperMario wroteCOLONYeah I guess. No idea how you can just predict Anton to make trades and turn everything around. But they are your rankings, and somehow a team lead by Eberle, Johansen and Etem = Playoffs.

Re: The BBKL Sweet 16 - August 31, 2012
Hong's and Mik's team have much lower room for improvement than Anton. Anton could flip his assets into a team better than Mik's with his eyes closed with the amount of value he holds. How in the world can I rank Mik ahead of him? A team like CLB is different as it would take a lot of work from Anton to get his team to that level. Hence CLB gets ranked ahead.Shep wroteCOLONThis makes no sense. In one sentence, CHI's ability to win the championship is higher than NSH's next year due to the amount of value in each team. NSH can try to improve all it wants, his odds are against it.
Look at my team last year. I was 12th in the conference in January. Anton's team is prospects has just as much value. To rank him behind borderline playoff teams is dumb.
Re: The BBKL Sweet 16 - August 31, 2012
You rank Mik's team ahead of him because his current roster is a playoff team and Anton's current roster is without a doubt a bottom 10 team. You've implied this as the Top 8 in each Conference for the playoffs. Not Top 8 in each conference in overall assets.
I don't understand how you can rank Anton's team as a playoff team. That's like ranking last years NHL Edmonton Oilers as a Top 10 team in the NHL because they have so many sexy young studs moving forward.
Chicago is destined to be bottom 3 in the West with the roster that will be playing every night. Until I see Anton making changes to compete, that's where he belongs.
If this was prospect rankings it's a whole other story.

You aren't ranking overall value. If you are, than these rankings should be significantly different and the Top 2 would be without a doubt TOR and LAK.SuperMario wroteCOLON Anton's team is prospects has just as much value. To rank him behind borderline playoff teams is dumb.

No I am ranking overall ability to compete and win. CHI's ability to win is greater than NSH. Simple.Shep wroteCOLONYou aren't ranking overall value. How does Chicago's team compete? They don't. How do they win? They don't (except vs. DET, sorry Scott).SuperMario wroteCOLONNo I am ranking overall ability to compete and win. Faksa, Frosberg and Reinhart are going to be lighting up the NHL next year. I forgot about that, my bad.
