and there is zero skill in picking on idiots, where are some deals against sold GMs?
Re: New Tampa Bay GM
Go through my trade thread in my sub forum, I've won some and lost some. It just gets annoying hearing "do not trust so and so" over and over again.. like seriously, are you scared I'm going to get better? I don't come out and say shit about anyone else.. especially when people tell me the shit you offer them and some of the things guys say about you.. we all have our thing!
Re: New Tampa Bay GM
I'm game to hear about my offers , however there are a few GM's here who tear apart brutal GM's, and then are the same guys that BITCH about them being brutal GM's. Making people know who the GM's are that consistently make the trades that get GM's removed is nothing but a favour to those not here long enough to have seen it all develop, no one has the persistence and repetitive approach as those GM's.
I'd wager more then half of my 'offers' you hear of are replies to an equally dumb offer that I have zero interest in perusing, wherein they ask "what would it take" after offering some scrub for JT or Richards, and a not interested in not the reply that will make the offers stop.
Misplaced confidence, aka arrogance, is about the only thing I'm sick of, oh and a feeling of being talked down to by an equal.
Oh and Kareem... consistently sick of how right he is

Re: New Tampa Bay GM
I've had some pretty bad offers for Kubina and Couture. Let me know if you have a good one. Tampa is rebuilding, so I'm looking for picks, prospects and young NHL players.
Re: New Tampa Bay GM
FFS, I worte out a big long post and accidentially erased it. Basically the long and short of it was I don't talk down to you, you're opinionated so sometimes I talk at you because we disagree on a lot of shit, if a GM is in the league and allowed to trade, why should I not try and maximize? Why wouldn't/shouldn't anyone? I've lost my fair share of deals, and I definitely do not have misplaced confidence.. it's been with me since I entered the uterus as a little sperm lol. I won't repeat what people have told me in confidence in an MSN conversation because I am trustworthy in that sense, but trading, I will definitely, always try and maximize.. no doubt about that. This is a game, you must look for ways to get better at every opportunity.. I'm sorry I figured that out long ago!!facey wroteCOLONI'm game to hear about my offers , however there are a few GM's here who tear apart brutal GM's, and then are the same guys that BITCH about them being brutal GM's. Tearing apart brutal GMs is what makes them brutal, right?
I'm just saying, there's a time and place to point fingers.. sure, I'm a litle cocky, but I won so I'm entitled to gloat a little bit.. what the fuck else did I get out of it?

Re: New Tampa Bay GM
nick i find it comical/hypocritical that youre in here talking like some saint when its IMPOSSIBLE to get a roster like yours together without winning SEVERAL trades by a large margin.
Re: New Tampa Bay GM
Please show me the poor GM's that I bent over? There are normally deals to be made that can benefit both parties, its a matter of finding a GM that you can actually converse with. Not trying to suck his dick here, but Kareem and I can almost always get a deal done.SuperMario wroteCOLONnick i find it comical/hypocritical that youre in here talking like some saint when its IMPOSSIBLE to get a roster like yours together without winning SEVERAL trades by a large margin.
note: not claiming to be a saint, I too have made low-ball offers, but I think I've moved well past that time (months+) however I do not attack and pester, don't insult the player I'm trying to trade for, don't lie in the deal, don't bluff, don't set pointless deadlines, or make up information.
My top 3 deals are against Kareem(1) & Steve(2)... then... perhaps deals that were even at the time or even a loss in immediate value, but hindsight they look much better... I've also expanded all 2011 draft picks...
(1)
(2)To Philadelphia: Ales Hemsky, RW + Scott Glennie, C
To Washington: Nazem Kadri, LW
To Kings: Kimmo Timonen
To Flyers: Andrei Loktionov + Kyle Quincey
these were 2 big building block deals for my team, 2 of the first deals in bbkl history (#1 & #5):
All 3 of those are with EPIC good GM's... who've probably beat me in other deals. To PHI: Ian White, Tyler Bozak
To TOR: Braydon Coburn, 87th pick in '09 entry draft.
------------------------------------------------
NYI get: van Riemsdyk, Sbisa, Phi 1st 09
PHI get: 1st overall in 09

your roster speaks for itself. and you yourself have listed on msn which trades you think you won HUGE. it doesnt matter which GM you win against. the point is when you WIN a trade BIG, there is a gap of value. that gain in value is what leads to teams like yours. you do exactly the same thing scott does, or guys like kareem, billy, steve, myself or other good gms do in this league. thats what youre supposed to do. so why are you in here knocking on it?facey wroteCOLONPlease show me the poor GM's that I bent over?

Re: New Tampa Bay GM
not jealous of your roster scott, feel free to stop suggesting that when you have the time.
The deal I really like with kareem, he's also VERY happy with.
The deal with Steve changed in value drastically over the past 82 games
I don't believe anyone would say I won the deal with NYI for JT, JVR(#2) Sbisa(#19), & #23...
that isn't nitty after signed with the sharks, or modano talking of returning (still hasn't, he was also hurt at the time).
I didn't say i've never won a trade, however your example wasn't a lopsided trade at the time.

Shiv, a) I think it was before the medical report came out, b) even your statement suggests it was unknown "determined' & "may" ... aka not determined, but that he has an injury that has ended other's careers -> a risk.... I also believe Nitty was hurt at the time of this deal as well, and I had Smith.... trying to get the TBL pairing....oh and btw, I found this trade in your log. Re: New Tampa Bay GM
Still a horrible trade nonetheless Nick.. no 2 ways about it!! You ripped a BRUTAL GM.. and I don't care, good for you imo.. no need to twist or justify it, it's all good!!
And I didn't suggest you're jealous of my roster.. I was asking if that was the question.. hence the question mark.
The thing is, some trades you win, some you lose. If you go through my trades, I've lost plenty and I've made very fair deals.. and yes, I've owned a few too. It happens!!

Re: New Tampa Bay GM
no nick this was after the report. but thats not the point here. the point here is that you are making it somehow "wrong" to win a trade by a large margin. that is completely ridiculous. people would laugh you out of the room in the real world. this league is every man for himself when it comes to building your team. if someone offered the following deal to Lou Lamourello in real life, he would be FIRED if he didnt accept.
To Chicago: Bobby Ryan, Fedor Tyutin, Shane O'Brien & BUF 3rd 2010
To New Jersey: Patrick Kane, Duncan Keith & Matt Walker
Thats exactly what Scott did. Youre somehow suggesting GMs should not take advantage of every opportunity to increase the value of their team. but thats the very REASON people trade in the first place. because it increases their teams value. your argument makes no sense. i dont care if you won the emery deal vs dallas. if anything it further proves why Chris was not fit for this league. but dont come in here telling guys like scott/steve/me/kareem etc that we dont have the right to own another gm in a deal when you do the same AND when that is EXACTLY what each GM should try to do in the first place.

Scott and Shiv manufacture great deals because of their ability to advertise their assets, whereas nick garners great deals through his ability to project players before they break out, both are valuable skills, no need to knock on one another for using a different strategy, as the saying goes, "there is more than one way to skin a cat."

Re: New Tampa Bay GM
In Nicks defense, I think your twisting his argument. I don't think he's criticizing Scott's trades, so much as his tactics when trading, I.E. dissing the players he's going after, praying on the weak, and holding out until he gets what he wants. I personally don't care how someone builds a good team, so long as they build a good team, but I certainly see his argument, and IMO there is a reason why Scott and I have never made a big deal, whereas myself and Nick have made several. The difference is that Nick is willing to make a fair deal if it helps both parties, Scott (from my experiences) isn't. On the flip side, I think Scott gets an unfair rep for making good deals, he's not the only one...SuperMario wroteCOLONno nick this was after the report. but thats not the point here. the point here is that you are making it somehow "wrong" to win a trade by a large margin. that is completely ridiculous. people would laugh you out of the room in the real world. this league is every man for himself when it comes to building your team. if someone offered the following deal to Lou Lamourello in real life, he would be FIRED if he didnt accept.
