Men's league - whistler cup
Men's league - whistler cup
Just waiting between games at the rink up in whistler - started wondering who else plays on a mens league team? Any on traveling teams?
This is an awesome vacation for me - started at furry creek golf course on the drive up to Whistler - then big sky up in Pemberton on Friday followed by game 1 at 6pm. Solid showing 8-3 win, goalie had a scary first but we tightened up and really laid on ye pressure with a 3 goal shift to start the 2nd. Super dirty game, they are the blue devils from south delta, super scum bag play with a flying elbow on a guy while cheering a goal he just sniped. Somehow it was an even up situation.
Game 2 was the best of the round robin - 6-5 loss to the WonderBoys from Banff, fast fast fast. Really stretched us out but some nice reads and a lucky bounce made it close.
Joke of a third game, shouldn't have been in our division.
Semi-final was 8am this morning, rough. Not the game, the hangover. It was a risk game with many of our guys lacking effort. Our penalty kill literally won the game for us. 3 shorties and no PPG against. Snagged myself player of the game for the final shorty which ended up being the game winner (1g3a) - shouldn't have gone to me though. My linemate Kirk had a hatty, 2 of which were shorties (both my apples) and he leads by example with awesome effort and composure.
Now we are in the finals against the WonderBoys. Down a few guys due to travel deadlines. But feeling much better then I did at 8am.
Weekend with golfing (drinking), hockey, drinking and some tail all up in one of the most beautiful places in the world sure is a nice way to spend a few days.

4-2 loss , super fun game though.
2010 champs
2011 champs
2012 2nd.
Guy that runs the whistler cup was a red Wing scout for 20 years - including Stevie Y. Detroit's goalie coach was there too - and an AHL ref former assistant coach in norfolk. Pretty nice tournament - next year bergey and cliff will be joining - all cr team for the win.

Re: Men's league - whistler cup
Man, haven't played organized ice hockey in yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaars. Ever since I went from competitive (nothing super serious) back to house league to play with buddies. Probably had more fun playing house league with friends and winning scoring titles than I did playing single A lol.

Single A hahahaha its easy to win scoring titles there come on!
Re: Men's league - whistler cup
Like I said, I never played super serious hockey. Back when I played it was the SHA in Toronto or the GTHL (A, AA, AAA). I only really played SHA because of the traveling that was required if you played in the GTHL (far too much).cliff11 wroteCOLONKapG wroteCOLONMan, haven't played organized ice hockey in yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaars. Anyways, I never said I won scoring titles in single A cliff . I said I won a bunch of em when I went back to play house league with a bunch of my friends . Honestly, it was soooooooooooooooooooo much more fun than playing in single A. The hockey wasn't as competitive obviously, but each team had a handful of players who had clearly played competitively in their youth so the hockey wasn't actually bad.
Plus, where I played, unlike in many house leagues, we were allowed to hit . Such fun times destroying kids lol.

Once upon a time I did have a fucking BOOMING clapper.
fuck I'd go through so many wooden sticks every year lol (and this is only with 1 game and 1 practice a week!)
