Believe both DAL and my own compensation picks are listed one pick too late on the spreadsheet as well.....

It was just a proposal. Not official. We are discussing it in the CC now.

Yeah the rules say I'm supposed to pick 2 picks after my original pick, and was I not second last when I inherited?

Nick wroteCOLONWe should do it early September IMO - team will still be holding camps on schedule last I checked, so all the same scouting can be done.

I also think we should do this early September. I think the drop dead date on the CBA (ie--start of a lockout) is the middle of the month. I don't think we should delay this if we didn't delay the entry draft and the rest of the offseason. The only thing different is if there still isn't a CBA by the time we do finally this, we hold off on the final roster deadline until we know when the season is going to start. We won't know what the actual cap/floor will be...and if they do a salary rollback...that'll be a whole mess to deal with.

I don't feel like this cap floor situation is being dealt with accordingly by some BBKL teams, and can hear excuses being formed.

Planning for something drastically different then projected in a mistake, and won't be an acceptable excuse. NHL teams have been told the same, they continue to sign players and exist within the salary cap. We (the CC, the BBKL, fellow members) should not have to enforce simple participation/team building regulations. Cap & GP is the fucking basics to an in-depth league, missing those with more then enough time to plan, adjust, readjust, learn, etc...

In the past changes of salary structures have been brought in grandfathered, with buyouts, payouts and scaling. All of that means, plan for the current, because the adjustment will make the current work in the new. I doubt it will be messy in application :P

Teams below the floor need not worry. There are a ton of free agents to be signed a handful of NHL teams below the cap floor. If every NHL team can get to the floor, every BBKL team should be able to get to the floor.

I for one think teams have been worrying too much about a phantom salary floor, considering the salary floor is unknown at this point.

I'm not questioning that...we're not even a month into the offseason. There's still plenty of time for more players to find gigs and teams sort out their lineups. I fully acknowledge I'm sitting out a lot of the offseason while I wait for some of my fringe free agents figure out where they're playing hockey. I'm planning on having to add salary...I just need to figure out exactly how much and what the most creative and productive way to obtain it.

The floor isn't even set in stone. This is what the NHL told the GM's so they had something to work off of for the summer. The CBA could change this fairly drastically.

Waiver draft date.

?

My proposal:

Announce that the draft date will be Sept 16th

BUT

If there's a lock out, move to a later date.

Sounds good to me, any news on pick status or an official order?

FTR, the 16th is the day after the lockout would officially begin.

Oki just making the announcement. Post in OP has the official draft order, needs to be prettied up, which I will do at some point + updated with current teams.

Draft will be held on Sept 16th UNLESS there is a lock out, in which case it will be moved to a later date, determined by when the lock out ends.
