Your probably right in regards to Kovy, but I could definately see Parise signing a lifetime deal with the Devils, he took a significant discount (all things considered) as an RFA, he seems like the type to take a discount if it is for the better of the team. Of course that is complete speculation on my part.inferno31 wroteCOLONWould require kovy for 12+ years or Parise for 13+ years for Lou to take advantage of those kinds of things. More likely he'll move out other bodies but just interesting its a lot of salary.
Kovy signing 7 puts him 34 for next free agency, so before the dreaded 35 (where even if you retire your entire salary counts against the cap). Smart move by his agent if its 7 or less, or 9-10 or more.
Odds are its exactly 7 if his agent is smart, as it'd greatly impact his next contract.

Re: Kovalchuk sticks with NJ ??
Kovalchuk’s options appear to be the New Jersey Devils, New York Islanders, and the SKA St. Petersburg of the KHL. The Los Angeles Kings are completely out of the running. Lou Lamoriello may be feeling the pressure to win now as Martin Brodeur is 38-years old.
This is the latest as of this morning:
NJ 7 years 60 million
NYI 10 years 100 million
Russian team some where in the 12-14 million a year range
But supposedly this is what it is narowed down to.

Great banner, Shiv...perhaps your best one yet. Too bad you can't seem to hang onto guys long enough where you can't keep a banner for more than a few days.
I've been trying to think of a banner design but I don't have a "star" to center it around. It probably would've made the most sense to do a roster banner. I probably won't do a new banner until the new season.

lol thanks buddy. the reason i made this banner right now is because i dont see myself making any major moves going forward. you should make a banner around jokinen.Shoalzie wroteCOLON

Wait...you're standing pat?
Yeah, Jokinen would be on the short list of guys I can single out. I thought about do something Hartnell and his wacky hair. I'm kinda waiting for the dust to settle with free agency and what I ultimately do with a few guys.

kovy to the leafs for 10 mill a year would def be an exception, he still has alot of years left in him

I'm still thinking Kovy to the KHL is possible, esp since the Kings have finally bowed out of this race for the third time.
I guess Kovy is holding firm at 10 years - 100 million. If thats the case i'd let him walk - really shows how these Russians want to build a 'winner'. Esp when 1 player is eating over 1/6 of the 23man rosters cap.
Make u think

i still say a player of his caliber has no interest playing in Russia. He can make that same money they are offering him now, in like 12 years when he is 39.\
So unless it is ALL about the money and he has NO interest in playing in NA for a cup then I still see him signing in the NHL.
Seriously, why go play in the KHL in your prime years when you can make that same amount of money when you are at the end of your career? Makes no sense.
