KapG wroteCOLONWhy wasn't philly able to embarrass their D and goaltending? Philly is just as good offensively as any of those teams you named.

Jersey has been slept on these entire playoffs and people are still sleeping on them. Their forecheck is ferocious and VERY difficult for any team to handle.
Philly as a team never showed up for that series, emotionally or in any manner. I think Jersey is one of the best teams in the East for sure, huge offensive power and great forecheck. But in 7 games I'd take the Canucks or Coyotes over them, Jersey beat a shit florida team, a philly team that didn't show up and are beating vastly overrated rangers team. I just don't think the East has been very good these playoffs.

I agree with Neel that NJD had an *easy* route to the finals.

FLA that didn't match, PHI that couldn't wake up, and then disagree regarding rangers, they were not easy, and would IMO have made short work of the Yotes and many others in the West. Cannot blame them for their route to the cup though, LAK has played well, but let's be serious... 4-1, 4-0, 4-1... east didn't show? how about the 1/2/3 spots in the west?

All i'm saying is that it's crazy to discrete either team. NJD and LAK earned their spots.

I'd love Kovalchuk to get a cup, and 1 more for Marty.

I'll be pretty indifferent in this finals. I like both teams, Kings are looking solid though. Can't see them losing.

Can't see the current Marty winning another one, it sucks that Richards will probably get one, but on the other hand it's very funny that would happen straight away the year after the butthurt Flyers fans have stamped him and Carter as the reason why Phila choked in the playoffs, LOL.

I have no real leans as far as who I prefer...no problem with either team. I would've pulled for the Rangers if they got to the finals...root for Hagelin (Michigan man) and I like Lundqvist and the American players. The Kings are a good story to follow...yeah, they're an 8th seed but they don't play like one. From following the end of the regular season, you could see the Devils were a darkhorse. Both teams definitely deserve to be here...no flukes.

Kings in 6...Brown wins the Conn Smythe

Worm? huh. I hadn't seen him referred to in that way. Gritty warrior, heart & soul player, captain material and a straight up winner - yes - but the worm thing is new. Referencing his ability to slither in un-noticed and chip in a geno? LOL 8-)

more referencing to stuff like this

the worm thing is something going on with my Italian hockey friends, they know that's how i like to call him.

as for his numerous tries to injure Malkin, at least this (legit) one turned out to be funny

The hit from behind is no-bueno, but the booth hit was just excessively heavy at the time (no blindside rules, perhaps the reason for it, alas not even a penalty if I recall, and he squares off with David every time he requests it) - and hitting Malkin is a proven way to get him to take stupid penalties.... and at 6'4" 220lbs or w/e Malkin can handle himself. Don't want to get hit? don't play hockey.

I never had any problems with legit hits (like the one on Malkin i linked).

My problems are with his numerous dirty attempts at injuring opponents.

If I have come away from this cup finals with anything, it is that I never should have doubted my hate for Kovalchuk. Kind of got caught up in the going for Jersey shenanigans and forgot I hated him. Has less hart then a loaf of bread, embarassing performance.
