I think it has a lot more to do with the shrinking cap then rape culture lol. I tried to sell Skinner for cheap assets as well and people wont move them as they need them to stay cap compliant. I think BBKL has been hit harder by this last past lockout than anyone else.

definitely some of that going on too, Eakin is my worst case. Man crush + .638M makes him impossible to trade lol.

Agreed, Anton.
The mentality of "my player is by default better than your player since I own him regardless of what stats or trade value say so overpay or I am not moving said player" is running at an all time high.

eakin is not a 4th liner.
im talking deals where a team can improve significantly being held up by a GM not wanting to add a guy who plays 6 mins a night

some of that is also that people don't want to make a trade for the sake of making a trade lol. If they really like the players they have, they don't feel the need to trade them! I see more of that then ever. The Cheap contracts are the ones that people consistently ask for overpayments for and rightly so.

this is a period of time where basement/cap floor teams in this league can make some SERIOUS hay but in my experience so far, there just doesn't seem to be a desire to do so.

Nah it's not just the cheap contracts. E.g. with Eakin and Beauchemin with you - no problem as it makes sense. In a lot of circumstances, that is not the case though.
The off-season is the perfect time for teams to improve. This season, the biggest inefficiency in the marketplace is cap. Yet not many teams have done all they can to capitalize.

Everyone does everything their own way. For some it isn't about winning but bringing along players they like and watching careers. Although technically that might not be considered the best "GMing", it is totally fair and their own prerogative. I personally choose to take advantage of it but don't blame the guys that choose not to when it isn't their thing either.

Selling a player before you think his value has finished increasing, or before his value does increase is silly. If a GM believes that is true I understand why he will not deal him at current value.
Hell I had to do it with a bunch of players in order to shuffle the deck and get under the cap with a competitive team. Ennis, Wilson, Skinner, Boedker, & Bogo are all going to be better players than I sold them at.

agree with that. I like the way I build my team and so this avoid there's 30 shiv in this league which would have caused the league to dismantle in less than an hour.
