failed season trade block. TBL

Well. Won the division as per the pre-season call. First round exit was not in the plans though. Won't be over-reacting, will be making some changes.

My team:
Jaromir Jagr - Sidney Crosby - TJ Oshie
Jamie McGinn - Steve Stamkos - Mikkael Boedker
Jeff Skinner - Claude Giroux - Jamie Benn
Jakob Silfverberg- Tyler Ennis - Dana Tyrell

Cam Fowler - Shea Weber
Tyler Myers - Andrew MacDonald
Jake Gardiner- Zach Bogosian
Alec Martinez

Jimmy Howard
Jonas Gustavsson

It turns out I'm biased toward left wingers who's name starts with a 'Ja' - random.

It is unlikely that I'll be moving any of my 5 centres. However outside of Jagr, Silfverberg & maybe Oshie all of the wingers will be in play.

On Defence, I do not see the need to make many changes, but am all ears.

In net I suspect Mazrek will be seeing more regular backup duties, seeing as the wings have somewhere between zero and no faith in Gus. But like myself have shown a lot of faith in Howard. Goalie is not a problem, but will happily listen to goalie system ideas.

Happy to chat trade, and agree on principle. But acknowledge that we are 2 roster locks from confirming any deals.

Only won division because of a wsh messup. Maybe you would still be in the playoffs.

No 'maybe' about it. But that's how the cards played out.

I can simplify for the grunters in the group.

Worth talking trade on ->
Centres: none
Wingers: McGinn, Boedker, Skinner, Tyrell
Dmen: Weber, Fowler, Myers, MacDonald, Gardiner, Bogosian, Martinez
Goalies: Detroit, only interest in whole systems

10 games after his concussion - not really nope... games on either side of that? Yep. He's a rather special goal scorer. Won't be moved for stuff like that.

I faced 5 shutouts on the year, it wouldn't have matter who my goalies were on either of the two weeks i lost all year.

GAA<2
sv% >.930
2 wins
please tell me how that's where I lost ?

Yes, i went 0-3-1 in the goalie categories against Chuck - so did most. For example you had Minny at this point, would have lost 1-3-0 to both chuck and I on goalies.

The other week I lost (to fucking bergs) Howard posted 1.45 GAA, .952 sv% - but all for nothing, berg with b2b shutouts for the 4-0-0 sweep on goalie categories. That week you had Miller, and would have faired the same. Against me you'd have lost 2-1-1.

You may not like Howard, but he's not why I lost either of my two failed weeks. No goalie (system) reliably puts up better numbers than what I did those two weeks, or what I was beat by. Thats the luck of h2h, a lot depends on what you opponents goalies do.

Cory Schneider does.

Jokes I understand, but incorrect.

.928 on the year, GAA 2.06...

Week 6 when I lost to Bergs, Cory posted a 2.77 GAA, .895 sv% no shutout and 2 wins, losing all 4 categories.

Week 11 he was one of very few goalies to better MTL, w/ 1.69 beating 1.75GAA, & sv% .948 beating .938, still losing wins 2vs3 though, which would be a tie going in my favour, add in the shutout and it actually is the goalie I would have needed to survive versus Chuck (8-6-2 win). 5 other goalies would have done the trick as well, Cory actually would have lost to all of the others that did as well. Like I said, it's about who you face and when. Long term and reliably very few goalies would I prefer over what I have.

In the last 28 days Schneids has a .952 s%, 1.29 GAA and 4 shutouts.
Thats what perfection looks like.
(also the highest save percentage of all time http://www.hockey-reference.com/play-in ... #stats::14)

But yeah you probably don't need an upgrade over your goalies haha, pretty safe bet for consistency with DET.

ps-trade me skinner

Well Det is 14th in the league for goals against 14 for S/A (for sv%) and 19th for wins. So basically Det system is very avg lol. Not great but not bad either. I dont see a reason to panic as they are average lol.

My point continues to stand, and would also point out that each week the averages don't matter. Both Shook and Cliff have used BUF & MIN systems as an example of a superior one to my own, yet both crucial weeks this past season they wouldn't have helped, and in fact were worse than my own.

from .928 to .918 is 10% difference, and covers from 4th to 17th, any game, any week those goalies are a toss-up.

A good starter is a good starter, their numbers can go to great if their team is playing that way, their numbers can go normal if the team is playing poorly. Very few goalies represent that actual difference to do more than that. Lundqvist, Price are the only two goalie I'd put above 'good' starter in the league currently. There's lots of guys having good years, a few having bad, a few good starters on teams having poor years represents those GAA > 2.5 - add in team play, what's in the system, and team faith in goalie, and you can get a picture for goaltending. DET is well setup in all regards, in that sense.

You are right that in one week averages might not matter but averages matter as it shows what you are more likely to get. You claimed that you averaged X amount of points/goals/assists/stpts and you didn't hit those averages in the playoffs and that is why you lost. I fail to see why you put a lot of stock in those averages and excuse goalie averages as irrelevant.

I also never once claimed buffalo as a better system unless it was last season. Don't know why you are pulling me into an argument. I SAID NO NEED TO PANIC AS THEY ARE AVERAGE lol. Basically the exact thing you are arguing for but I said it in a blunt non flattering way lol.

Drunk at Cliffs I believe you and cliff both said BUF system > DET system for BBKL purposes, regardless, post wasn't just against you.

Goalie averages are very different than weekly averages. Running total versus running average. Similarity does exist in (un)reliability and relevance. SV%, GAA are obviously tightly tied, ditto on SO & W. Finding a week that Stamkos, Giroux, Ennis, Benn, & Skinner don't score any goals, is much much much more of an outlier than finding a week than goalie x (Price) is better than goalie y (Howard). In fact week 11 is the only week of this season where the above is true, but it's also much more unlikely than even that indicates.

Anyways, way the fuck off topic.
