I'm not sure I would rank JT ahead of: Spezza, Kopitar or Datsyuk (or Toews who was excluded), but he is a dominant top line center, without question.

Tavares is 21, was ppg all season and improving. Datsyuk is 34, not quite a ppg, and is likely on the decline. Ill put Tavares over him any day. Kopitar still has yet to put up the point totals we all think he's capable of and was outpointed by Tavares last season. Not sure what argument there is there to put Kopi over JT.

Spezza you might be right, but it'll be VERY close. Toews, admittedly i forgot about due to his concussion last year.

Defence is a thing, and Datsyuk does it better than any other center in the NHL, and statistically he is still a near ppg player, and dominant at driving puck possession. Kopitar is debatable, but I believe what he brings away from the puck trumps what Tavares contributes (as of today). Moving forward, I would be hard pressed to name 4 better centers than JT, but for this upcoming season I feel there are easily 5 better center ice men.

A healthy Ryan Getzlaf and Nicklas Backstrom likely warrant consideration as well.
