This is where trading Brad Richards for high picks and a prospect puts you in a tight spot...value-wise, you probably did alright but it creates an extra challenge with the floor/cap. Teams don't give salary away...I had to trade away a few good pieces last summer to add warm bodies and salary just to get to the floor and have enough GP. It's not a fun way to do business and if you're rebuilding, it can stunt your improvement because some of the stuff you'd like to rebuild with may have to be sacrificed. A full on gutting of a team is a tricky process.

Yeah bbkl is different this offseason, in the NHL you get paid to take dumps, whereas here you must pay to be dumped upon......
