I think many competitive teams have a similar group of players performing above contract value.

If you recall Billy is actually flirting with the floor.

I think the 70M cap reduces the value of these "cheap" deals. And the 54M floor actually increases the value of 'proper' contracts.

Billy's managed his cap as well as can be. But there's no such thing as too cheap of a contract. Giroux at 3.75 says hi ;).

Yea, the floor is pretty high. Whatever.

Just saying even with some very very large contracts i'm only at 55M. Obviously cheap deals are good, but man... 20players at 3.5M gets you to the cap - its insanity.

How much support can the NHLPA have when it's this out of control - players signed to good deals are a rarity rather then the odd player signed to an albatross.

Yeah somehow, I'm only 5 mill above the cap.

Is there a discussion in the CC about lowering the cap floor? Looking at the UFAs this year, it feels like the insanity was really limited to Parise and Suter. Not sure how this is going to help teams like Philadelphia, Detroit, Winnipeg, etc.

Just think about how crappy the Flames are and they are the 4th highest spending team in the NHL.

Let that sink in.

Nope, we stick to NHL cap/floor

I get to make deals for crappy players that make cap... Thankfully it's only costing me some of my top prospects! Unfortunately, this isn't the NHL where I can sig Devan fucking Dubnyk 3.5 mil to be a back up. And yeah, we stick to NHL rules.

There is a distinct difference between a cheap deal and a bargain. Giroux is a bargain not cheap. Just like every player I listed. And bargains are critical when you have players that are over 6/7M in cap.

I have that automatic feeling: how the hell do you justify paying these people so much?? But then... would you prefer the teams just keep the money?

It would be nice to see the minimum salary raised to 1.2mil or something...

Nvm, I lied. I'm 1.2 mill over the cap floor. Yikes.

Well fack...Must be nice people, I am over the cap atm. Tim Thomas is going to be a valuable asset just before roster submission for a team wanting to meet cap floor and still tank fairly. oh yea....

Then I'm obviously interested. PM me Kyle. I can't recall having ever made a trade with you.
