Interesting timing for this deal...a week before free agency...you don't know for sure either goalie's situation right now. It's a good return for Chuck if Schneider remains a backup this year but if the Canucks ship out Luongo, he may want to have this one back. Thornton is very solid so he at least gets a sure thing. Cliff could make out like a bandit depending on how goalie carousel turns.

Nope Price isnt going to hold out. Montreal filed for arbitration to prevent anyone from tendering an offer sheet. Both sides have said they want a long term deal and Price wants to stay in Montreal. The fact that you're questioning a Habs fan's knowledge of his own goalie is rather funny

I don't think I like the trade for cliff - he'll need to make sure he gets proper value for the leafs system when the time comes.

But I guess corey could be the starter behind the best team in the west, which could be a very nice addition to his team, perhaps adding a very consistent 4 categories.

But ImO jumbo is a reliable contributor that should carry more value then schnieds

Thats exactly what Cliff told me. He was tired of alwys losing goalie cats and wanted someone more reliable. The deal worked out well because i cant carry 2 starters this year because of GP restrictions. He needed a better starter and I need roster players. Win-win.

That's what I finally did when I moved my Ottawa system 2 years ago for the PHX system. I just went cheaper, and then I moved Bryz for Smith+ after he left, and I'm again with the defensive system of PHX.

About the deal, I love it for Chuck. Not that Cliff didn't do very well, because he did. But moreso because Chuck landed a #1 centre for his back-up goalie.

Nothing wrong with it from Cliff's side, just great asset management from Chuckster.
