Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman is going to "give [Benoit Pouliot] the opportunity" to be a top-six forward in Tampa Bay, reports the Tampa Bay Times.

"He's got the skill, the ability to play with our top guys," said Yzerman after acquiring the winger on Saturday. Benoit Pouliot is 6-3 and just a shade under 200 lbs, and is fast with decent skill. At 25, the winger is inconsistent, but he doesn't shy away from the dirty work along the wall or in the kitchen. Pouliot could be a real sleeper come draft day.
