Half the reason I traded him was I could never remember how to spell his name haha

That is a bit of a stretch...All things being equal, the probability of a center or winger panning out is greater than a defenceman based on a sample size that stretches past the last decade. However, every prospect is their own unique individual, so it is not stupid to take one in the top 5...That said, I wouldn't recommend it unless you thought the defenceman was clearly the BPA, if all things are equal or even similar I would lean towards a forward over a defenceman in the top 5 because they appear to be a safer bet in the top 5. It could be because defense is a harder position to play, it could be that young defenceman are harder to gauge than young forwards, or it could be something else entirely, who knows...

Pietrangelo is the lock, Bogosian was the one I was considering as the 2nd.

Now, clearly I was being overly sarcastic, with a bit of sincerity. Obviously Doughty was a beast, but this and last year he's been VERY mediocre, especilaly for 7mil. Schenn was good in Year 1, solid in Year 3, bad in years 2 and 4. Hedman is fine, Hickey sucks, Alzner is solid in Washington, EJ still riding the hype of 1st overall, Jack is in his 3rd team already, but he's been fine. Barke is meh.

My point was, there are no franchise players here (many thought Doughty was one 2 years ago, but I don't think so until he stops being fat).

Dmen, especially top 3 are so consistently under-valued by moody fans it's criminal !!!!

I'll take Semin or Ryan but pass on Daughty SVP.
