well, trading Dats basically for futures only it's a significant blow to my team's chances as far as this season goes, but I really like Manson's and Bura's contracts so I decided to go this route... their cheap cap hit is obviously more valuable to my team than to Cliff's one, this season and beyond.

I think Dats' numbers will improve as soon as they give him someone who can score rather than Richards and Helm (so probably starting next week lol), hence Cliff could make a profit trading him again this season, but anyway, I personally expect Dats to resign with the Red Wings and stay in the NHL beyond 2016/17... and as the cap grows his cap hit will become easier to afford as we move forward. Hopefully this deal will still look good for Cliff in a year or two, and will look better for me as well.
Sucks that I was not able to use Datsyuk beyond last season after paying Nino and Mojo for him.

your team just got better. You can now recall 2 (or maybe 3) of those players who are awesome in your minors.

only 2 of them I think, and that won't replace Dats' faceoffs. I'd also expect him to outscore them from now till the end of the season.

i highly doubt he outscores those guys. He probably breaks a knee-cap anyways

I really don't see the fit for Cliff. Mik obviously got the betterend of the deal here imo.

obviously didn't mean the combination of the two.

anyway, against the duo you should compare Dats + someone else that won't have room anymore once dressing the two in the minors, not Dats' production only.

Mik I think your quite lucky to find someone to give you value for Datsyuk to be honest. Especially with the leverage present knowing that with you unloading his cap it significantly improves your active roster

Great return for Mik. That waiver draft swap too is also not insignificant at all.
If cliff is gonna make GP and he has his 2016 draft picks I don't really get it. Hopefully he can flip him for more in the future.

if Cliff sees this whenever is back online he will probably take the time to reply himself, but I guess he expect Dats' production to improve and his value to rise back a bit as a result. Fairly obvious he doesn't plan to keep Dats until he retires.

Meanwhile he uses a great center (he barely has 3 NHL centers now), and Dats' gp could be more than Bura & Manson combined the rest of the season, considering Bura has been a healthy scratch more than once (and the Caps could make a deal to further improve for a playoff run) and Manson should go back to the minors once Depres is back.

Both things are not a problem for me as I can put them in the minors.

not insignificant, but these are the 1st overall picks in recent Waiver Drafts:

1. Los Angeles (from DAL) -- Matt O'Connor

1. Tampa Bay (from DET via CAR) -- Petri Kontiola

1. Toronto (from DET) -- Steve Oleksy

1. Toronto (acquired from DAL) -- Damien Brunner

and there are no Panarin or Jagr joining the NHL next season.
Kovalchuk and Radulov are already owned, should they come back.

I'm glad most GMs seem to like this deal for me, but reading the comments (and shopping him around) it really seems to me Datsyuk is currently underrated.

As a BBKL performer and as an asset as well. It's like people expect him to retire after this season, whereas I'd be surprised not to see him be an effective 40yrs old NHLer.

C'mon, mik. You win, and this is bad for a rebuilder in his position.

Datsyuk could easily explode and Cliff flips him at the deadline. I don't see the big deal here at all.

Risky move for a bottom feeder like Arizona.

Could work out but I still think it's risky
