TOR/SJS - Poirier

To San Jose Sharks:

Petr Mrazek
2015 2nd rounder (BOS)
2016 4th rounder (TOR)

To Toronto Maple Leafs:

Emile Poirier
2016 1st rounder (STL)

Excited to make my first deal with Mike. Mike made a very good first offer and we worked out the details from there.

This deal is more about the continuation of trading away Corey Crawford. Mrazek plays an important role for me while the MIN goalies system is incomplete. Matthew (ANA GM) is respectfully holding Dubynk until the ARZ goalies situation is resolved.

two years ago I would have said that, but he's been an elite AHL goalie since that time and is transitioning nicely to the show

lol thanks kimmer. I don't mind sharing my thoughts bit I know it isn't required.

IFFHL does that because of the trade review board.

how does slide eligibility work? Poirier is slidable, can I do so having acquired him mid season?

the problem is it looks like Eric didn't have his contract sliding, according to his googledoc and this thread http://bbkl.ca/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=11511&start=20

if still eligible I guess Poirier contract could be eligible to slide next season for semplicity sake, but for the ongoing season (where he certainly was eligible) that would be making a contract slide despite the fact it was already running for this season, probably wouldn't make much sense (without making things easier like at the start of the season, where otherwise we would need to go back and check players' situation in the previous season)
