It is sickening how good Fehr is with the media though, I feel sorry for his side of the table every time until I look at the facts. Seriously though how do the players do it, they need to conceed one thing which is the eventual 50/50 split in revenue... not even a straight cut just an acceptance to get there, and every other thing they want, they get.... One thing is holding up this lockout and that is the 50/50 split, not revenue sharing as that has no baring on what the nhl owners want. in fact most embarace it... It makes me want to vommit.
I think the players would concede to a 50/50 split, frankly it is inevitable given the precedent in the three other major sports. The real sticking point for the players appears to be an immediate roll-back in player salaries, which is what the owners have demanded to even begin resuming negotiations. Revenue sharing is a significant issue as well, arguably the most significant with respect to the leagues long term stability, but there doesn't seem to be a willingness to move towards a more aggressive revenue sharing system such as a luxury tax, and without the benefit of going over the cap, the rich teams are rightfully reluctant to invest more money out of their own pockets to fund the poorer teams.shooker wroteCOLONgreat video. only thing I know though is as long as the NHLPA refuses to submit offers there will be zero chance a deal gets done. 2 out of 3 times the nhl and nhlpa met to talk about an nhlpa offer they haven't shown up with one.
