Sensfanjosh wroteCOLONNot gonna lie I understood the rules same as Scott makes more sense for players who are waiver draft eligible to not be entry draft eligible. However the red brown part highlighted by Mik above does anticipate this situation so despite my own understanding (or assumption) gotta side with Lee and Mik on this one.
thought that making eligibility depend only on players' age (without exceptions) would make things simpler and clearer.
For whatever reason, failed miserably at that lol.
Also, fact was, the signed/unsigned players thing would have brought some uncertainty during the draft: you may trade up to draft an eligible player, and before your pick comes around that player gets signed, making him not eligible anymore.
Or even worse, the news comes out soon after you make the pick, making it impossible to determine if the signing happened before or after your pick.
Then you can have players just drafted in the NHL and signed right after, before they get picked in our still ongoing draft, making them never ever eligible in our draft.

Shoalzie wroteCOLONAmbigious is a fair term...the rule can have more than one interpretation. I see the rule and I omitted the idea of drafting Bunz until the waiver draft because he signed his ELC with the Oilers. Lee reads the rule and he goes ahead and gets quite a coup.
I'll be the first to say I wouldn't punish him for it...just re-write the rule. You bring in the topic of waiver draft eligilibility with entry draft eligibility, it just muddies up the water. What stops someone from drafting a college free agent if he's draft age eligible?
Nothing does , because he is draft eligible. Guys like Abbott are 22-23 and not close to draft age eligible.

"All bbkl-free players (i.e. players not owned by any BBKL team) born between january 1st 1992 and september 15th 1994 are eligible for selection in the 2012 BBKL Entry Draft."
Doesn't "All" mean "everyone of them"?
The fact that you don't see the ambiguity in this issue is laughable.
please point me out where the ambiguity lies
Scott already has.
picking one line out of 13 and ignoring the rest?
I guess that's still something compared to the Andersen case, and considering the CC hasn't come to a conclusion on that one, if anyone does apply this selection bringing the argument up in the CC he may very well succeed and have this pick disallowed!

I'll say it again, show me where someone has been able to draft a signed player in the entry draft? (other than just now)
It was a very unique situation...a player that pretty much fell through the cracks (Bunz pun intended) and probably should've still been Cliff's player but he failed to keep his assets probably documented. I caught it a while ago but didn't dare say anything to anyone at risk of someone getting him. If anyone wondered why I so aggressive getting the three other Oiler goalies...this was why.

Yeah honestly a few others can attest to me being after Bunz and confirming with them that he was waiver eligible i.e. not Cliff's property, not once was it mentioned that he was entry draft eligible as well.

I have more signed players available to me in the 7th round as well, Scott. The matter with Cliff was repeated last year with myself selecting Josh Nicholls.

Just because some people misunderstand the rules doesn't mean that they aren't rules.

No its nothing against you Lee. Just saying that the rule obviously needs some editing, as there are lots of people who understood it differently than you, and Mik did.

earlier today works for you? last year otherwise?
sorry for the poor wording btw, it's unfortunate no one among CC members and Administrators caught such an ambiguity and its nonsense when that thing was proposed in the CC board.
