Mik if it takes years its your own doing.

Bryan and Matt both inherited teams in shambles... and within 8 months they have good teams.

Shiv and Scott.. no need to be braggers.... the simple truth is that an active GM with more then 1 trade in mind can turn a team around quickly.

kyuss wroteCOLONno, it implies that it was a factor in widening the gap between the best teams and the worst ones, something the new GMs who inherited the worst teams can not count on when trying to close that enormous gap.
Ok, I'm going to try and explain this as simply, and clearly as I can,

When you make a single point, without accompanying arguments, evidence, or specifying that you are speaking in regards to one of many factors behind a cause, event etc. the reader is left with the impression that the single argument is either the sole cause, or predominant cause of whatever it is you are trying to prove or disprove.

For instance if I write, "being tall makes a good ball player" (and nothing else) it is implied that I believe being tall alone makes a good ball player, or that being tall is a big part of being a ball player. Without adding "speed, skill, and strength also contribute to being a good ball player" the reader is left with the impression that I (the writer) believe height is either the sole contributor to being a good ball player, or at the very least a significant piece of the puzzle.

You did the above with regards to elite GM's preying on idiots, therefore you implied that elite GM's are either only good because they prey on the weak, or largely because they prey on the weak.

sigh, why you guys can't come to terms with the fact it's not a personal thing..
Don't talk about my team, when speaking of yearS i was referring more to a team like Lee's one for example.
I think Bryan and Matt didn't inherit teams as bad as Lee's one, and they also did it in a different moment.

There was a point where Matt's team was the worst BBKL has ever seen, yes even worst than what Kezia had.

I'm not "bragging" I'm stating something as close to fact as you can get. I just won't prove it because I love my team!

its not the bragging nick. these people need to stop complaining about their lack of starting assets and just work towards turning the team around. there is an asymmetry of assets dealt out yes. but each team can be turned around by a smart gm. that is all im stating.

Kyuss just so u know I joined this league in the final week of the regular season my team wasn't even top 8 in the western conference which was way weaker than the east. I personally believe that is possible you just need to talk to you but to turn your team around because I believe now that in a tough East I think I can compete for 7th or 8th which is an improvement, but if you have an attitude like yours then you will never improve because it just seems like you do not give a shit.

it seems to me some guys entered this argument without reading the starting point.

This was my first post in this thread:
kyuss wroteCOLON
MSP4LYFE wroteCOLON
Raptactics wroteCOLONThe cap's a real bitch, isn't she? lol
Tell me about it...This summer is going to be a full scale fire sale for me.

Anyone who says you can't compete in this league without FA does not understand the cap very well.
or maybe you're (acting like if you were) missing something..
the cap will force you to move some players, not to trade them for less than their value.. there will be several teams with the cap space needed to take your highly paid players, not just one option.. so you won't be forced to accept any deal where you won't get something good back.. and guess what, the few who inherited a team with nothing good on it (not talking about me) will hardly be the receiving part cause they won't have much to offer you for your big players.

disclaimer: i am NOT advocating FA, again.
what followed was just arguing with people who were telling me this is false and whining, whereas i was simply stating my opinion with reference to a team like Lee's one, NOT mine. My team entered the discussion mainly as an example to remember someone who was praising the importance of having high 1st rounders in this league how some inherited teams didn't have theirs. Nighthock's team being a better example (i brought).
..but if you have an attitude like yours
what attitude? stating my opinions without caring&changing them if the big guys find them unpleasant and consider them whining? Trying to contribute to improve (imho) even further this great league bringing in free agency when Scott proposed it to let teams like Philly have a fair chance to compete in a reasonable short period of time? the only reason i will stop bringin up opinions is to save me some time, not because i need to change my attitude to compete, lol.
then you will never improve

for your information, assets wise my team already improved quite a lot.. i am happy with what i was able to accomplish in these first months in the league, despite the terrible preseason/start and guys like Thoresen and Wellwood rejecting (and rightly so imo) 2 way NHL deals and bolting to Russia.
because it just seems like you do not give a shit.
i have no idea why it seems this way to you.
I have completed 43 trades since joining http://www.bbklhockey.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=225 that's probably more than all the trades i ever made in other leagues put together.. (in the other leagues i could always stick to my choices at the opening draft and free agency and be fine.. obviously that's not the case here)
i have spent in this league 3 times the free time i had available, that's because i like a lot the challenge of building a team from scratch in a very competitive league. So much for not caring because of inheriting a crappy team, that was exactly what i was looking for.. stating that the GMs who recently inherited the worst teams are not given under current circumstances a fair chance to compete (try to win) in a reasonable short time does NOT change that and does NOT mean i'm stating they can't slowly improve step by step.

Hope i was able to clarify.

I am saying everytime I see you post it is because you are mad about things I am not saying you don't care about your team I am saying that if you let everything bother you the way I see your posts you won't have fun and eventually you won't care. As for the guys that inherited bad teams I don't think you should worry about them just worry about your own team and have fun. When I joined I was warned what my team was like and no one is forcing people to stay.

People want to talk about how easy it is to rebuild.. when you have multiple retarded Gms, it might be, now that the bad ones are weeded out, it's damn near impossible to rebuild like Mashley and others have. Nobody wants to trade unless they rape you. I'm not the only one who shares this sentiment, but apparently there are very few who will speak out against it on the forums.

So yup. I probably won't make the GP this year, or the GGP, so at the very least my pick will be demoted drastically, if not taken away, which will surely help in the long term success of my club. So thanks again, previous GMs. I don't see anybody here jumping to save a franchise that has been severely fucked over before I ever got my hands on the team.

I know, all I'm doing is bitching and whining, right? It has absolutely nothing to do the long term benefit of the league. It's not coming from the voice of someone who is there right now. It's not coming from another GM that went through what I am now. I've made my share of good and my share of questionable trades. It's all a learning curve.

I'm not leaving, or rage quitting. I just don't see my team being competitive for a very long time.

imo although your team sucked when you took it over it was gp and ggp compliant. You traded multiple assets for none nhl players and I am not saying you are wrong for doing that I just think it was short sighted. I still think you can make gp, it's week one, you've learned from your mistakes and will be able to aquire players to make them it isn't that hard. It is just a matter of your willingness to give up the assets to do so.

If it means trading away all of my good prospects for 4th line grinders, I'll just take Hopkins over Larsson.
