So who exactly can we use as relief players? I'm somewhat confused.

I believe in-season it is players you are calling up or acquiring in a trade...
Pre-season, you can start with players that would normally be on your roster; but obviously you need to make the room once those players come back (best scenario is for guys that are out for the year as an example here).

Nope I can name whoever, they just get exposed to waivers if eligible...which he isnt. He was up replacing another plain IR. I've just shifted him to an LTIR guy now.
