There were 21 Swedes and 23 Finns taken, by my count.

In the previous 10 NHL drafts, there has never been more Finns than Swedes taken. The smallest gap between the 2 countries has been 4 more Swedes than Finns, which happened in 2019 (26s to 22f) and 2017 (27s to 23f).

21 swedes would be the 2nd lowest amount of Swedes taken in the past 10 years with only 2015 (20) being lower.

23 Finns would tie for the highest amount of Finns taken in the past 10 years with 2017.

The average amount of Swedes taken over the past 10 years is 26.3

The average amount of Finns taken over the past 10 years is 14.5

So I guess it's likely we overdrafted Finns and underdrafted swedes.

Although 7 of the 21 swedes were 1st rounders.

79 Canadians and 51 Americans (I expected this to be closer)

More Canadians taken in every round.

These numbers are pretty standard for both countries. Although the last 3 years canada has had 73, 70, 73, so it's nice to see us jump a bit.

Average for Canada over the past 10 years is 82.8

Average for the USA over the past 10 years is 54.2

These are compared to how the NHL typically drafts. It would be interesting to see how drafting in BBKL has shifted since our inception in 2009. My guess is we have learned to take more Euros.

The statistics I want to know are how Mik's drafting has pulled the Euro counts up across the board and the country-by-country breakdown.

Last year Mik drafted 18 players...all euros.
2019 he drafted 16 players...15 euros.
2018 he drafted 20 players...18 euros.
2017 he drafted 17 players...16 euros.

Thanks for the research Matthew.

I think we are going to have a decent amount of undrafted but lots of drafted players from last year were chosen this year too.

I think Luke Mittelstadt and Dru Krebs probably get drafted almost took them with my last pick. Any other players you think get drafted that BbKl didn’t take?

Was trying to get into the 7th round for the last 20 picks to choose cam berg.

Also wouldn't have minded Jacob Guevin.

Rob Calisti, Ryan McCleary, Elias Vilen, Michal Gut may be some guys? I'm sure we will see like 50 of our guys go undrafted lol.

This should be a fun draft on the NHL side. I suspect we see a lot of our prospects go undrafted, a lot of 6th and 7th round picks go early, and a lot of early draft picks go late.

It will definitely be a fun draft to monitor!

Publicity stunt, doesn't hurt him to be drafted next year since he isn't going to be in the NHL or AHL next season.

I also think the amount of players who have probably taken a picture or video of a girl and showed teammates is pretty high and isn't that heinous of a crime. It wasn't sexual assault, he didn't release the picture publicly, it wasn't a racial thing like Miller. We live in a hyper-sensitive society so if the Leafs drafted him I'm sure there would be social media outrage as people attempt to show how woke and morally pure they are, but I'd have no issues with him being on my team.

It happens a lot in general, he just got caught.
100% a publicity stunt, I agree.

I think the bigger issue is she apparently didn't know he took the picture, and then he showed it.

"According to a 48-page investigation report from Sweden’s North Region Polisen, which was obtained by Daily Faceoff, Mailloux secretly photographed the victim without her consent or knowledge while engaging in oral sex."

I think if you send someone a nude, or let them photograph you, then it gets shown to friends, that can be expected. But when u secretly take photos, then show them to people, that's verging more on a crime.

That being said, probably smart for him to wait a year and re-enter. Who knows, he may go higher next year than he was gonna go this year if he has a great year. He also seems to regret it, and is being public about the issue and to have learnt from it.

I'm not condoning the actions, I just don't see it as career ruining. Immature and dumb, but doesn't make him a terrible person and probably thought he could impress his new teammates and it wouldn't leave the room.

The team-by-team (recent) draft histories include this draft:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing

Later in the summer, I want to try to "convert" the 2013 and maybe even the 2012 draft results into Google so those results can be fed into these sheets. 2013 is when I started tracking the draft but I built all of that up in HTML. Mike and Lee have simple tables of the draft results of the earlier drafts that I'll pull that into my Google database so more our draft history is included.
