Another ineffective "trade deadline", is what it is.

"Oh, boo hoo, mah goaleez"

Fuck.

Guess it's just Lee being Lee again.

Like.. seriously. There is no fucking point of having a trade deadline on the last week of a season if you can't fucking trade during the playoffs anyway.

At that point, the "trade deadline" might as well just be called "the last fucking roster submission of the regular season for non playoff teams"

It's like having a fucking buffet that ends at 11 but then starts up again at 11:01.

Except that there is no food at the 11:01 buffet for certain people because fuck those people.

This isn't a rant about non playoff teams not being able to trade. you all have your heads too far up your own asses to see reason in that situation. It's the absolute lack of point of creating a special "deadline" for people that can't trade.

The deadline itself is probably an hour before games even being. our roster lock isn't until 5 minutes before that. why not just said the trade deadline is on roster submission that day? The final regular season roster submission?

Maybe if we switch to W-L-T format, cc will consider an earlier deadline in future years. Although, looking at the standings, it would only make sense if league standings parity got a bit better.

With an 82 game wlt schedule we could make it equal amount of games to NHL trade line.

Again, last week of regular season...not first week of playoffs

I smell the BBKL annual cage fighting championships are coming up, quite early this year too.

Parity in our league will never be the same as it is in the NHL unless we do a reboot. A team like Mike's will never be as bad as a team like Detroit currently is(Sorry Scott). Steve has far, far too many assets to ever be as bad as Anaheim currently is.

The problem is that a bunch of teams got fat off of retarded GMs and we have evolved to a point where those types of GMs are no longer around, while teams at the top are still benefiting from that time period.

No one wants to acknowledge the problem, so we just continue trucking on.

It's not Mike's fault, nor Steves.

Teams can definitely get better but it will take a long time, which involves a lot of patience and isn't a lot of fun for fantasy hockey, and it also involves a lot more luck than most are able to admit. The top heavy teams don't stay at the top because of early successes alone, they are active and good GMs and have also benefited from some good luck along the way.

That would be all well and good if the teams at the top stagnate in their development instead of continually add players like Connor McDavid for Torey Krug and some other spare parts.

You can't blame Mike for taking the deal though can you, that's where what I said about patience and hte not so fun waiting game apply, I agree I wouldn't have ever moved McDavid as a rebuilder, but if Dallas felt it was the move to make can't really fault him for trying to improve either.

This has been discussed many times, yet I think no one has ever explained in any convincing manner why an earlier deadline would be 'special', whereas a late deadline would be 'pointless'
