After week #6 4 teams out of the top 9 in the overall standings are from the Central Division.

And no last placed team has more pts than the Jets, last in the Central with 272 pts.

standings updated

Philadelphia has dropped out of playoff position (I know Lee likes to be mentioned)

Islanders overtake Washington for 1st in the Metropolitan

Rangers climb back up over Devils

Boston leapfrogs Florida, Montreal and Ottawa on his steady climb up the standings since week 3

Ottawa falls to last playoff spot in the East

No changes in the West

The west race for the 8th playoff spot is fairly close. I believe arian currently holds it? A big jump for him over last yr.

Lol, how? The West is so bad. I have the 21st most points in the league, and I am 8th in the West.

Oh jeez.

Oh yeah, but it's close. The top 7 are basically playoff locks now, but 8th can still go to any of the bottom teams in the west.

The standings aren't updated, but looking at FT, the gap between the top 7 in the West vs. the bottom 7 is hilarious. A horrible, horrible team is going to make the playoffs and get absolutely smashed in the first round.

It was never that bad in terms of Top 7 / Bottom 7 discrepancy. The West has generally been weaker, but the studs like LA, NSH, CHI and MIN have always been elite, even winning some Championships.

Oh I don't care, it was moreso the fact that looking at FanTrax there is a much larger discrepancy than it shows on the current spreadsheet.

Updated to Week 8 (from week 6)

Montreal overtakes Boston for 3rd in Atlantic
Tampa moves into 6th over Florida

no changes in the Metro Division

Vancouver moves ahead of Calgary for 2nd in the Pacific
San Jose leapfrogs Arizona and Anaheim after winning all 4 matchups in week 7

Dallas back into basement of the Central Division as Winnepeg gets the tie breaker by matchup wins (147 to 146)

I don't know man, I've always thought of the west as having about 4 strong teams like you mentioned and the rest all weak.

I'm 9th place yet currently hold the 7th overall pick (pre-lottery). That's how much the difference between the bottom half of the west and the bottom half of the east is lol.
