http://bbkl.ca/viewtopic.php?f=84&t=379 ... =20#p50059This is what's been determined to deal with the situation:
as soon as an unowned pick is up, it gets canceled.
This means if you are the owner of a pick listed as unowned in Lee's spreadsheet, you'll have time till its previous pick is done to prove you indeed own such missing pick.
It will be too late after that.
Fortunately this is only a hypothetical scenario now that Mash was able to make the pick, but i feel like being open and honest about this; the fact no one is directly involved anymore actually makes it only easier to speak about it and hopefully this serves for the future.Nick wroteCOLONhe hasn't been around since the site came back up - rules are well and good, and for guys that have been around or haven't been positive influences on the BBKL I'd agree, no reason to even consider some bending; but for a member who took so much upon himself to make the BBKL a better place, I see nothing wrong with helping move the draft forward, and not wasting his pick for him (or god forbid future managers) just because he's MIA.

12 hrs available for each pick.
If you miss your selection it becomes pick at any time within the next 30 selections, after that the pick is gone. If the latter occurs in the first 3 rounds GM receives a warning.
The fact that you don't seem to understand that life does play a role in our availability in this league is more alarming than anything you've posted here. The fact that you haven't seemed to noticed that Mash showed up to make his pick and then disappear again should be a clue that there's enough on his plate that we should be giving him some lee-way, not trying to tighten the rules or giving someone shit for having the audacity to think like a human being.kyuss wroteCOLONFortunately this is only a hypothetical scenario now that Mash was able to make the pick, but i feel like being open and honest about this; the fact no one is directly involved anymore actually makes it only easier to speak about it and hopefully this serves for the future.Nick wroteCOLONhe hasn't been around since the site came back up - rules are well and good, and for guys that have been around or haven't been positive influences on the BBKL I'd agree, no reason to even consider some bending; but for a member who took so much upon himself to make the BBKL a better place, I see nothing wrong with helping move the draft forward, and not wasting his pick for him (or god forbid future managers) just because he's MIA.
I find the above bolded part to be a blow to the credibility of this league, especially when it comes from a key CC member and it clearly goes against our rulings:this was posted here: http://bbkl.ca/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=6588- proceedings

and was decided and posted last year already: http://bbkl.ca/viewtopic.php?f=84&t=379 ... ngs#p49193
and was never questioned.
So when you state "I see nothing wrong with helping move the draft forward" i wonder what we are ever going to accomplish with our efforts to make this league fair and easier to manage.
The draft certainly should not be expected to move forward before the 12hrs window has passed.
The pick would probably not be wasted anyway cause the missing GM has 30 more picks available to make his selection.
And the fact you see nothing wrong in blatantly going against the rules is alarming.
We don't have an updated and comprehensive CBA.. and even when rules cover the matter at hand and are clearly written and updated you suggest to dismiss them ad lib?
I could understand if the proposal was about the potential warning.. but one thing is easing on personal punishments, a different one breaking rules to help one team over the others.
The latter should not be considered an option.
Ok, needed to get this off my chest.
The least we can do is give Mash the space and understanding for what's he's done for the league rather than deviate into an.argument about the semantics of league policy.Tony wroteCOLONTelling someone to grow up when they're trying to do what's best for the league is ... immature, no? The phrase is always an insult.
