Moving back in a hockey draft is more of a function of you don't like the players available at the spot you're at. You get acquire extra pick(s) and move back until you're happy with a player at the given spot.
Mostly this, or you believe that the current tier is broad enough that you can move back, get a similar player, and pick up addtional assets for little cost.

Not bad. Arguably a better offer than 18+a 4th. Guess Dave didn't like either prospect.
I didn't get that offer.
Yep somehow that didn't send but the one saying same offer for 18 if Cossa is there did, oh well.

I think Svechkov goes much earlier in the NHL. Kap having himself a real nice draft.

2 of the best 3 or 4 defenseman in the draft, a talented forward and most likely the #2 goalie prospect...I agree he has taken care of business with his multiple firsts.

The picks are solid but the maneuvering with some of your picks was well done also. You had 7 to start...you spent some of that capital to move up to #1. A very effective 1st round for your team.

Thanks for the kind words. I did have a game plan coming into the draft for the first round and it kinda went as well as it could have.
