When was his last log in? Perhaps a consensus BPA is the proper course of action.
? if he doesn't pick/trade within his timeframe next team in line will be up..

he hasn't been on since June 11.

We always skip the pick, never BPA..

And im saying we have a very valued member of the BBKL who is away for w/e reason- we could show *some* appreciation by managing via auto-pilot until he returns.

IMO picking bPa is a keep the draft moving decision and it helps a friend of the BBKL :-)

The problem with BPA is that it can be biased... Maybe use a site like http://www.mynhldraft.com/NHL-Mock-Draft/ - BPA being Hampus Lindholm

rules are rules for everyone Nick.

We never used this BPA thing, and it was never said we would start this year..

Then this is the way it should stay.

Just because he hasn't officially signed in doesn't mean he hasn't checked in now and then (as guest).

I think just use the ISS rankings. extremely unbiased imo anyways.

However, IMO the only way we make this an autopilot pick is if you are grooming the Coyotes for a take over (which I hope not). If its to help mash then this starts a dangerous precident and I say forfeit the pick.

he hasn't been around since the site came back up - rules are well and good, and for guys that have been around or haven't been positive influences on the BBKL I'd agree, no reason to even consider some bending; but for a member who took so much upon himself to make the BBKL a better place, I see nothing wrong with helping move the draft forward, and not wasting his pick for him (or god forbid future managers) just because he's MIA.

I don't see how that matters anyway..

as much as i like Mash, he could have left notice via PM, and he can still pick whenever he comes online like others in the past. No wasted pick.

The pick has been on the clock for a half hour (ish). It's 12 hour clock. He's been texted and tweeted. No point in really discussing it until it gets closer to the deadline which I still feel we should stick by our rules. Mash is as valued a member as we have, but we bend them for him then it's a bad precedence.

No, I agree Mik. I do.

I also don't believe in special treatment Nicholas.

I don't think we've had a seriously contributing member be MIA for the draft before; work, kid, wife, life - lots of viable reasons to be away, not saying it wouldn't be nice had he let us know, but on the scale of things likely rather low on the priority list. Anyways, if the majority disagree that's fair enough - but I for one would like to see the draft keep moving, for a valuable pick to not be wasted for the organization, and for us to show some positivity towards w/e Mash is doing.

Phion Daneuf, who *hypothetically* would you pick.... seems like an easy solution... not meaning to imply it's his team or going to be, but a community member who is currently active and perhaps sub in for timeslotted things while Matt is afk.

I just think the decision should have been made before the draft started ... what if someone like Thom or Josh was holding up the draft? I'm pretty sure there would be less leeway as they haven't been around as long ... just playing Devil's advocate (no, not Scott)

Look, Mash has done a lot for this community and he's always been a pleasure to talk to when he's available. I know that he's been extremely busy with work and life, and that's sucking up a lot of his time. I can text him and ask if he wants me to make a pick for him, so that we can move on and stop discussing the virtues of Mash's influence here like he's erred on the side of being a non-functional member of this community. He's still a participant. Let's not make it sound like life doesn't have an impact on how often we can be here when the league demands it.

Not close to 12 hours seems logical to wait till then. I've contacted him, I'll see what the response is.

That's what I said. While it's good to know what we're going to do IF he reaches the 12 hour limit, this discussion really doesn't need to happen until the 10 hour mark.
