then an A-H team wins the lottery for #3.... and they don't say which team. After some time waiting for that info, we give up, delete the NHL lottery results and re-run our lottery from scratch.
The following week Bob comes out revealing: hey btw, I learned the ball drawn for pick #3 belonged to team H.

Sounds lovely.
Especially for someone who seems so concerned about the feelings of GMs that might feel screwed by us not using the NHL lottery in the first place.

Even waiting for that info from June 26th till the start of the play-in round (our scheduled lottery date) might not entirely prevent that ugly scenario.
I think that’s much better than the NHL results ending up working for our format and everyone always looks back and says we were dumb for overthinking this.

I will propose the CC to run a public vote to pick between the available options. So far we only have two. And personally, as long as the alternative is that potential shit-show I'm going to vote for the safe route that the CC announced.

Running short on time for everyone to be able to vote in time for the Friday NHL draft. Or is the delay on purpose...

What is the downside to a public vote? All a delay does is give people less time to see it or think about it and cast a vote. Post a poll, let's see what the results are, and go from there. If I/we are outnumbered greatly, then so be it.

But based on the last few days the CC members who have chimed in seem to be on board with staying with the announcement while besides Jordan and myself a couple others are on the side of following the NHL and then follow the CC plan of doing our own if their results don't work for us.

Maybe they're debating if a vote is worthwhile or just scrap their idea and use NHL results :)

Cross our fingers. This release today SOUNDS like they will be telling us which assigned ball a-h will win each spot if one of the bottom 8 teams wins it, as they need to remove all balls assigned to say, the 10th seed, to make the odds correct for the second drawn ball and third drawn ball, as the odds change with each selection.

There's only 2-3 ppl signing in a day, so that is irrelevant.

I don't think they will remove any balls.
Just, if another ball matched with the same team gets drawn, they will discard that and re-draw, until a different team's ball gets drawn.

Still, this should mean the phantom team's will all have their specific balls, rather than having a package of undiffferentiated balls for A-H teams.
This still doesn't guarantee the NHL will have the courtesy of letting us know which phantom team won the draw.

If they tell us who has the top 3 picks, we can figure out the rest.

I don't see what's in the league's benefit to not share who ends up where in this scenario. If it didn't matter, they would've either just did a lottery with the bottom 7 or they would've mashed the odds of the other 8 teams into one.

The funny thing with designating those slots as A, B, C, et al is that when they do that second draw, all the teams have identical odds (12.5%). There's no advantage to be Team A or Team G. Even if Team A wins the #3 pick in the first draw, they all go back into a hopper for that second draw.

It's like when you're dealing cards and someone forgets to remove the joker from the deck.

I'm just excited to be punished, yet again, for something I had no part in.

We need to stop picking and choosing to follow NHL rules when it's convenient for certain members of the CC.

If you're going for full disclosure then Mik also has the Vegas 1st with conditions on who gets it depending on lottery results.

I'm making no accusations but it should be public knowledge he has skin in the game with this while being the most vocal one against following NHL results so far.
