Interesting to see contenders in the West pay big prices to go after the quality talent at the top of this draft. This is why hanging onto your 1st rounder until after the season is so much more fruitful because I wouldn't have gotten a guy like Ekman-Larsson from a contending team in the midst of a playoff push. Teams won't give up players that are helping them win in-season for a draft pick no matter how good it is.
At this point in the game, you'll have a guy you really like at your pick until someone pays you so much that you'd want to move out of that spot. I was pretty much torn between Jones, Barkov and Drouin at #2 but couldn't pass on the deal with Steve. Pete and Shook have done a nice job flipping high picks for very useful assets. And Pete is still going to be able to snag Barkov at 4...he's done a great job with his high picks. This was the year to have multiple high picks.

it would be nice if some of the other bottom teams took note of this, it woudln't take long to flip your team around if everyone hung unto their picks

I'm not sure why anyone would trade a proven stud for a pick that may or may not end up being a proven stud in 2-3 years, but what do I know?

I can't remember there being the quality of talent being flipped for high picks in any other year...probably a product of the high quality of the talent at the top of the draft. I doubt we see the same kinds of trades next year.

I also won't trade skinner for burns for what it is worth.
