absolutely - good vision for what a player will actually do, patience in terms of value on deals and pieces - hell, some prospects might be at their HIGHEST value right now, as prospects, others could do nothing but increase for the next 8 years. Good calls there are key.

My 2 cents/prediction:

Shiv wanted paul martin and fired 60 offers on phion - phion takes chucks deal

Phion will sleep in/get high and miss the entire entry draft process, resulting in 7 1st round pick forfeiture.

Paul just because it happened to you doesn't mean it'll happen to everyone.

Haha.

I'll probably be high for the draft, but it'll just make my drafting skills better

Paul you are an idiot. I want nothing to do with Paul Martin - when I call out a team like this, it is because there is legitimate concern. I bet I am not the only GM who thinks this. Your CAR team was subject to similar talks when you destroyed it after taking over.

Btw - we have seen this movie about 10 times before. With Paul, with the old PHI gm, with Frank twice, with VanChris.

Phion you may think you're some sort of a pro scout who knows things, but when you took over you had the following pieces based on Topher's old spreadsheet or value equivalent to the pieces below in some form:

Marc-Andre Fleury
Johan Franzen
Drew Doughty
Joffrey Lupul
Paul Gaustad
Darren Helm
David Legwand

etc. etc.

Combine all your picks and prospects and I do not think they equal the above pieces alone, let alone everything else Topher had. You need to be very careful for this to not go off the rails.

To be fair Phion has two top 5 picks in the upcoming draft, and you hate prospects. I think he lost value, but for a lot of gms bbkl isn't just a value game, its about having keepers and enjoying watching them develop.

Might need to lower the mood a little.

Phion does this trade put you below the salary floor?

No I verified that he is fine. I'm actually putting together a BBKL-style spreadsheet for him as well to show that. I invested a ton of time to make sure my offer was ok against his cap.

I never had Lupul.

Meh im confident my prospects will be fairly similar to those guys. Best one there is Doughty who I think I could replace if I can get myself in a spot to draft Jones (which i am right now) or maybe Rielly could be at a similar level.

I have a bbkl confession; I have never made a spreadsheet. I just use cbs and a calculator to keep tabs of my cap, and just do the math for my roster limits also.

make a google doc, it's a million times easier.

It's also free. and you can link it/make it viewable to the bbkl.

open google docs, figure it out.

If that's asking too much life is going to be a pain in the ass for you.

And that might be sugar coating it.

However there are examples all around the BBKL that you can work off of (copy and paste mine into your own, and than plug in own players and cap hits). Also are walk through tutorials.

It's not that I think its a pain in the ass, its just that I find it quite easy to quickly do the math.

Haha thanks, and ya I will.

I'm hesitant to even trade my prospects in a swap for another prospect. No way will I give up on the rebuild lol
dude, unless i've missed news today and/or you change your effort very soon, you'll have to give up on your rebuild for the simple reason you'll probably be ejected by the league in the next few weeks or even days.

just calling things as they are.. and this trade has nothing to do with it.
