Kostka will not be on the team when injuries are healed. He gets worse every game. Bottom pairing dman at best with inflated stats from playing with Phaneuf.
Bozak got demoted tonight (in a winning effort, no less) and as Kadri develops he will continue to get demoted. He's a #3C playing in the #1C slot with 2 goal scorers on a terrible team. He's a UFA that shouldn't be re-signed but probably will because the Leafs are morons and want to continue to finish in the lottery.
Ruutu is decent but has one incredibly inflated hits season that most remember, gets hurt every year.
That Anaheim 1st may end up being the best piece you receive in this deal.
Terrible analysis without knowing my team's position. But please continue to teach me how to run my team.
I don't care about your team. I'm breaking down the assets in the deal. It appears you feel the exact opposite about every piece of the deal otherwise you would not have made the deal.

Shiv will somehow make something of this return though knowing his persistence. i don't really take one shiv trade seriously when its more like 1 step/100000 steps to build his team.
But as a hockey deal its terrible.
As a shiv deal? who knows.

Yes, you know your teams strengths and weaknesses better than anyone, but on no team, regardless of situation, does the value of this deal make any sense.

Hmm
I'm kinda with Shiv. Not a bad trade.
I do not think Kostka is going to collapse, nor do I believe Bozak goes from a valuable player to a useless one. And on top of the Ruutu is a nice top 6 forward. He got depth for a top end piece - one that doesn't PK or take face-offs.
Anyways... I do not see it as a home-run either way, simply a good trade. Hell if I was Cliff i would have removed Kostka/Hickey from the deal (or tried to).

I think this is a complete smash for cliffy. Makes that Oshie/Bozak deal go from a bad one to a sudden stroke of genius. After seeing shiv's 2nd trade I still have zero idea why he went this route.

James Neal and Brouwer for Heatley and Bozak
