Hartnell had 1 season prior to last year with more than 50 points.
In that case, let's ignore his 67 Point season, even though he will find himself in an identical role this year. It must be a fluke!Shep wroteCOLONHartnell had 1 season prior to last year with more than 50 points.

I am agreeing with everything you say on the NHL level.Nick wroteCOLONAnd if Scott's chemistry with Giroux falls offs, he could easily find himself on a different line, and IMO the numbers would show as much.
Lots of lines lose chemistry over an off-season and never find it again. The best players typically continue on, finding chemistry with another 'scoring-support staff' NHLer
Hartnells point totals will not drop off as long as he stays on a line with Giroux, the duo has very good chemistry with one another, and Hartnell opens up a ton of space for Claude.gooker wroteCOLONYeah because it's not like Hartnell will stop hitting and PK-ing or whatever just cuz he's not on line #1... more ice time MIGHT contribute to more PIM, but I really don't think it'll be that much different

I'm just sayin, that certain special wingers like Parise/MSL/Kovy/Ovi etc are wingers that can dictate plays on their own - are obviously going to have different output and results than those who are there as primarily support/crash/protect wingers like Kunitz/Hartnell(?). The fact that I said more ice time = more PIM was just meant in a role-dependant sense, because obviously I know there is direct correlation between increase in ice time contributing to more production in all categories.Nick wroteCOLONMore toi = more of almost every stat. It looks like gooker & shiv disagree?
No doubt Kunitz/Hartnell roles on these lines was earned - but the support staff for superstars changes. Over 30, tough Game guys
On his own, is Hartnell a 30 goal man? That's well outside his skill set IMO.
I actually don't think having secondary scorers is a counter to the big primary guys - yes many of giroux points involved Scotty, but even more of Scotty's had giroux in there. This means it is somewhat unlikely for Me to get a point without you getting one too, but it is vERY unlikely for you get one without me.
Now - if Kunitz gets 55 points, sid is at 110 ish they probably connected on 40 of those - 15 unique points vs 70. Pretty solid base stats in my favor there. Smaller margin of point dif on giroux/Scotty and more unique points between MSL and Stamkos - but once again, I don't think MSL is support or secondary, star on his own Merritt.
Yes, you will have more unique points when comparing those players. But that's not the point. I will neutralize a large portion of your offense with 3 of my players who are not my stars. I neutralize 40 of crosbys, 50 of Giroux and 70 of stammers points.Nick wroteCOLONMore toi = more of almost every stat. It looks like gooker & shiv disagree?
