Oh and Karlsson is a liability in his own end. He is a very special player but love him or hate him you can't argue that lol.
Cody Franson isn't even the worst defenceman on the Leafs, there are far better candidates for worst defenceman in the NHL, IMO.

Is leddy good?
very good offensively, worst dman in the league defensively .. no lie, but he's still young so he can work on that
he still has his work cut out for him if he wants to dethrone Franson/Barker for worst defensively. Those guys have taken that lable to another level.
Franson is much better defensively, and Barker is not an NHLer

i dont see the big fuss about Franson tbh, he was bad as a LD, but he was honestly a solid top 4 guy when he got put back on the right side. There is no way that he is one of the 10-20 worst Dmen defensively .. he's average defensively, with solid offensive ability
on Karlsson's case, in order to score at that high of a rate, you must surrender defense for offense. If he wanted to, im sure he could be much better defensively and score 20ish less points. Some D that are offensively gifted get abeled as defensive liabilities, which in some cases is true, but not all the time.

no, u can score a shit load and be good, or great offensively.
Lidstrom did it for 15 years
Niedermyer did it on a epic scale when he was on
Pronger has done it by being epic defneisvely and strong offensively.
I effing hated the karlsson norris this year, not that the awards meant much to me given who votes on them, but it's insulting to the great dmen in the game that someone who gets by on merit's other then the purpose of the position is the winner. You stop them from scoring first, then you dominate offensively, even the likes of mike green, sergei zubov, markov and kaberle had that understood.
and yes, franson is that bad, he;'s god awful and i cannot comprehend how a hard shot has kept that big soft idiot in the league.

all of those dmen are generational talent. NOBODY currently in the NHL will ever reach those guys levels, and i can say that with confidence.
78 points in 81 games is absolutely unreal for a forward. not to mention its a 22 year old D who is doing that. I would of preferred Weber for the Norris, as he is much better defensively + is that all around physical #1 stud, but i have nothing against Karlsson (other than him being a Sen) and he definitely deserved it as well. Karlsson is decent-good defensively, i take him over half the Dmen in the division
Franson isn't bad by any means, went front row to a couple Leafs games this year (dad got some tickets through work) and he looks much better. His skating is not that bad for a guy his size, his offensive skills are definitely there, and can play physical.. just has to get more consistent in doing so.
He was brutal on the Left-side, but was solid on the Right-side.

he wasn't shitty, he was sheltered, but still was pretty decent... he's a good #5 who can step up into a #4 role IMO

Erik Karlsson is indeed terrible without the puck, but he is good at retrieving the puck, and driving possession in the opponents zone. So much so that Karlsson rarely has to play defense in his own zone. It is a very underrated quality about his game, and it is like the old adage says, "the best defense is a good offense."

he couldn't hold down a spot in NSH and toronto fans are still hoping he can gain power with the leaf jersey on. the same one that crushes other great players.
Nik, Chris and Scott where all great in single seasons and for over a decade, I have little doubt Shea will achieve this feat, as well as several other dmen currently in the NHL - hell if Green can return to form, or Karlsson can work on his w/o puck play both can easily join the elite status and enter that HOF argument. Personalyl I've always thought Zubov should have been considered led a cup winning team in points, and although not a shut down dman, was more then capable enough to handle regular minutes.
back to Leddy, like i said, my package is on the table.

With all of that in mind, it seems to me like a very good case could be made for Milan Jurcina as the worst defenceman in the NHL. Last season anyways...
WHAAT?!
don't you know Jurcina is a beast?

To be fair, he was quite good in H2H, but he is so bad in real life that he is a threat to be benched or outright released at any given moment.
