Tony wroteCOLONpeople charge more for salary than you think is all I'm saying ... with the cap going up there are quite a few who need it
this is soo true. People that take this lightly will be giving up top prospects just to reach cap and gp. Teams need to get straight before too late or they will be paying rediculous prices to tank.. Tony is being nice and warning now, most wont be so nice.

It's not a fun thing to have to give up something good for a handful of lint. Having to give up Henrique last summer still bothers me. If I've learned anything from that, don't go below the floor if you don't have to. It's probably easier in our league to shed salary than to add. You have to keep some salary on your team.

What works for your team, Lee, is having guys on ELC with pretty healthy cap hits. Gudbranson, Huberdeau and Niederreiter with cap hits near or over $3 million and Baertschi up around $1.5 million. The ideal thing for a rebuild is to have a self-sustaining roster...play young players that make enough money so you don't have to dumpster dive. If they play well and you sneak in the playoffs, great...if they struggle and you get another high pick, there's another piece to build around and eventually your team gets to the point where you can compete annually.

Yup. I'd argue that my worst cap hit on my team is Montador at 2.75 mil, and he's still capable of putting up 15 + pts and periphs. I'm far from satisfied where my team is right now, but I don't need the Scott Gomez's of the world, and that's a +1 in my books.
