Hardly.

Pacioretty put up almost as many points as Richards and is a way better contributor across the board. Richards may have more offensive potential moving forward, but typically the Rangers and Torts as a coach don't produce too many high-end offensive players so the days of Richards hitting 85+ points are over. Not to mention the age and gap.

If they were both wingers, Pac>>>Richards, but given that Richards is a centre the value is pretty even to me.
lol this league is amazing. One slow season and a proven player's value plummets. One good season and a player's value skyrockets - especially if said player is young. Patches isn't close to B Rich's level yet.
Obviously. What have you done from me lately is always the case, this league is no different. Richards has still only had 2 great seasons of 90+ points and 1 other where he was over a point per game. Fact is, he's a 70-80pt player that wins faceoffs and not much else. Pacioretty had solid numbers the year he was hurt and didn't miss a beat last year.

If the different is a 60-65pt winger with solid periphs vs. a 75-80pt centre with very little periphs, I view that as a wash, especially when age and salary is factored in.

It's also not mentioned that Washington was over the cap and instead of making 5+ minor moves, he made one lateral move and got below the cap in one shot.

As I told them both when they asked my opinion, I said centres are the most highly valued players in the league, but I personally would pay more for Pacioretty.

Solid deal I think.

Brich is awesome IMO and I'd look for him to be in the top 12 for league scoring this season. But PAC is good shit too, even if I think he over-scored his ability this season. So no cap, or age, or positional needs considered id say brich decides the winner, but that's just not the case.

Nah, Richards won't be in the top 20. Too much competition.

I am laying it out that Couture takes it to another level this year and makes that top 20.

He's got the opportunity to slide into Jumbo Joe's role. Jumbo is still a beast but I would think that Couture is there next franchise center.

I was thinking top 20 Centers. Scoring is another game...

I think Getzlaf comes back to form along with Iggy, Couture and Sedin. I really think Samuelson will have a huge year in Detroit if he can stay healthy.
