I could see Peter having to overpay me for Varlamov in a couple years, lol.

Bryzgalov sucks in Philly.
Bobrovsky sucks period.
Backstrom is in a great system and will put up better numbers.

Killer for Pete. Bryz should be better, and he can't be this bad with this team.
Can he?

Look at Bryz in Anaheim. MEH.
Look at Bryz in Phoenix. Beast.
Look at Bryz in Philadelphia. MEH.
Now let's look at Mike Smith.
Look at Mike Smith in Dallas. MEH.
Look at Mike Smith in Tampa Bay. MEH.
Look at Mike Smith in Phoenix. Beast.
Bryzgalov got overrated because of the system Tippett plays is great for goalies, and a reason I always target PHX goalie tandem.

The way I see the trade (and I'll admit I am somewhat biased because I wanted Backstrom) is Peter gives up a very solid tandem that can play poorly and still get him the win cat in Bob/Bryz. He also gives up the security of having a tandem which cannot be under estimated, and is difficult to reacquire given the goalie market in this league. However he does get the best goalie in the deal, albeit one that has been in trade rumors a bit this season and has shown smaller signs of breaking down a bit. He does get Ennis to add to his team which is important obviously, but then he also downgrades a mid-to-low 1st into a high 2nd in a draft that's very top heavy.
Best case for Peter the Philly tandem continues to struggle which makes this deal pretty even, however if they rebound at all and continue to play for Mik then this trade is a big win for Mik imo anyways.

Ya the thing is mik barely got a scratch from this. Ennis is pretty much a nonfactor for him

Yeah, it makes Mik's team as a whole a lot stronger and he didn't really sacrifice that much, and got younger in net as well.

That carolina 2nd is very close to a first but in this years draft, and I don't feel like it cost me a lot to grab that ppiece to begin with.

Its close in value but still a bit of a downgrade, just with all the other pieces moving it doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense for you to also downgrade picks.

Going to be 100% honest with everyone. Please don't judge me. I was very tired when I saw the trade last night. I thought it was Niklas Backstrom, not Nicklas. ...

From a simple big picture view of this trade, as a rebuilding team, I likely improve my Save% and GAA in the next couple coming years with bakstrom instead of philly tandem (anybody realize how terrible they have been right?) And I add what I consider a future star forward which was simply at the price of nothing to me? In all honesty I am just as happy or happier rolling with Nik Backstrom, and Tyler Ennis is a CRUCIAL piece to a rebuilding squad. The only real downside to this trade for me is the fact that Backstrom is getting a little bit older, and that Bobrovsky could become a great goalie for a long time as he is still quite young, but at this very moment I have lost almost all faith in Bryzgalov (referring back to Shep's point about Bryz's play in PHX). Basically I felt I improved my goaltending and added a great young piece in Ennis. I cannot stress enough how stoked I am to add Ennis to my young forward core, 200 + SOG last year, will develop with Hodgson and they will eventually be the anchor for scoring in Buffalo. People are maybe discrediting his season this year because of injury problems? he does have 7 points in his last 8 games for a reason. It was as simple as adding without subtracting i my view. Not to discredit this trade for mik though, having a tandem on one of the best teams in the league definitely is an awesome feat, especially when things like Bakstrom going down last night happen.

By then, you'll be in your 5 or 6th season of having finished in the top-3 of the BBKL draft.

Thing is when i move one of my young goalies i wont be asking for a goalie in return so thd price is going to be substantial. Especislly if bernier and varly turn into the goalies i believr they are going to become.

so, should i edit the thread starter despite the fact it would look modified after the deadline?
Search purposes are important. I'm sure all would agree and we all know this deal was done prior to the deadline.
ok, done.
