Yeah I'm just not sure why he'd take on the risk here, everyone knows Mik was in tough due to cap issues...meh

way too early to make that call, without knowing how many yrs Dats will stay in the league and how much Cliff will get back from him..

Cliff needs D way more than a C and I don't see any contender having the cap space for Datsyuk which makes him a very hard sell. Don't think a 2 for 1 helps a team struggling with GP.

If he flips him for a better return then good on him, but I highly doubt it happens.

Getlzaf, Toews, Crosby, Parise, Suter, E.Staal, Giroux etc.. there are several players on contenders that make more Datsyuk. All it takes is one of them going down to LTIR injury before our playoffs for Datsyuk to become the perfect replacement...

btw..
The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed Sergei Bobrovsky (lower body) on the injured reserve list.
This move was expected given that he's slated to miss the next three weeks.
Great fucking timing lol... as soon as I make room via trade, news come out of an injury that would have provided the needed cap space anyway

Then you need to pay more then a 20 year old offensive first rounder + depth D and top 5 waiver pick and then deal with cap hell when the player returns. As the owner of 2 of the 7 named I know I would have no interest in doing that. Only takes one GM to make a trade though as we see here.

well, if Getzlaf goes down and you replace him with Dats you can still win it all.. and that would easily be worth it

You are missing that I would have to pay more than Cliff just did for it to be worth it for him and then have to lose another trade to clear cap when Getzlaf returns, it just wouldn't make sense to me. I would like to win, but if I'm trading for a replacement and paying a price that high I would be going after someone with more value than Datsyuk.

Are you going to pay more when Malkin gets injured so you can win? You can say yes, but I'm skeptical you would.

well, first of all if Malkin goes down to injury before our playoffs you'll hear me cursing from a different continent.
second, yeah, Datsyuk on Arizona would very probably be the best option available to replace him, and I'd very probably pay more than what I got today. Which doesn't mean giving back Bura+Manson+ since they are going to be more valuable to me than to him next year too, but I think the value going back would be higher than Bura's + Manson's current value.
I would like to win, but if I'm trading for a replacement and paying a price that high I would be going after someone with more value than Datsyuk.
you really think at the deadline you would be able to get someone more valuable than Dats for cheaper than this? wow

And yet we welcome him back with open arms time and time again with the promise of this time being different.

Potentially.

He went away on his honeymoon and hasn't been heard from since.

Datsyuk is an old declining asset that no longer penalty kills, doesn't score nearly as much, and seems to be getting pushed out of the center position more often. Who makes 7.5 million dollars. People tell me Bolland is an anchor with his contract and he's been much more productive than Datsyuk.

Mik you unloaded him. You don't have to keep talking about him like he's still a superstar.

While we are on the subject of centers, can somebody explain to me what exactly constitutes a center in this league and how Anisimov was not switched to a center? LOL!

Bolland more productive than Dats? you mean when Dats was out injured?

Datsyuk is still a superstar, I think you're out to lunch here.. I mean, comparing him with nowadays Bolland is gross.

relax, he has.

And if you pointed out to me my miss it would have been fixed earlier than today.

I see that it has been fixed now as of earlier today he was still listed as a wing. It was a legitimate question though because I'm not exactly sure what the threshold is.
