the calling out on Plekanec worked perfectly!

KapG wroteCOLON Btw, in what world is hemsky doing better than pleks?
scoring, before tonight :P

and Hemsky is not garbage, just plays like garbage way too often these days. But if they play him consistenly with Spezza on the 2nd line the pts should come.

I know you haven't been a "fan" of Mike's deals over the months here, yet he stands with 5th overall in BBKL standings + cut enormous amount of cap + considerable addition of youth and prospective depths and picks.
What do you personally think of this outlook? Perhaps loading up with nothing but quality heavy hitting NHLers for that 1st/2nd overall in BBKL standings with unknown outcome in the playoffs vs his method of building a bigger and wider franchise with still hopes of being competitive year in year out - two very different approach but a challenging question to be warranted as a debate

Fisher has played really well for him since he's come back. He's got a lot of balance on his roster.

Plus he's annihilating me this week, something you always had issues doing year after year ;)

Ah thanks Kimmer haha. Ya in hindsight if i kept pavelski (given henrique slowed down a bit and stopped taking face offs) and hung on to pleks, markov, and Kunitz, probably could have had a legit shot at taking it this year. But I was worried some of those guys would lose value in the off season and am happy with the youth and depth I've acquired. Who knows - a couple good weeks and I could still take her down this year... Bit of a stretch but who knows.

Yep - he's been an absolute beast. Easy top 10 bbkler on a per game basis. Also available to the masses! UFA at the end of the year. I see him taking similar cash to stay in Nashville to keep his mrs happy but who knows... Definitely lots left in the tank.

My comment had nothing to do with Mike's performance with PIT. To be honest, I literally have no idea what his team looks like...I've only seen 2-3 of his trades.

Pleks was always one my team's building blocks though so tough trade to see. On my opinion of his outlook - I have none, you guys probably have a more informed opinion of what kind of a job he has done.

More of an existential point - It's kind of a strange feeling to see something you've spent time building change directions. It's not even a question of whether it's better or worse. It's just a point about what your mark/identity was and that changing. It's an interesting experiment to watch as a life lesson.

if you told me you thought this, I would have happily traded him to someone else first to make up room for our deal. Reading this it's like it was just a dump for you, when he obviously has to have some value in a 30 teams league like this..

haha he's fine and there isn't another way the cap would have come back that I/you would have been OK with. Agreed, other teams would be interested. But yes, he was the least important part of the deal for me.
