Lineup isn't that much better...some lateral changes but pretty much hitting the same stats as before...okay periphs and weak offensively. When healthy, I've got a better lineup than I started with. The improvement is with my prospect depth and several more high picks.
I've done a decent job drafting without having any picks that I've actually made in the first or second round. Not saying much for me but I've got my first ever draft pick that's made it to the pros with Connor Carrick (Capitals D)...I picked him in the 6th round pick in 2012. I'm hoping that having actual picks in the first two rounds will bolster my prospect pool. My goal is to build a sustainable team where I have a solid pro team plus a steady stream of prospects that I can pull my next wave of players from. Trading will become a luxury rather than a necessity.

I hope the Wild do trade for Miller. That's the risk I took. Anything involving acquiring goalies post-deadline is absurd.
The early deadline was awesome. Very encouraging moving forward I hope we can have 4-6 of our weeks between the deadline and the playoffs.

not sure why, or if it is, then our deadline shouldn't happen before the NHL deadline imo.

not sure why. I also think in a few weeks we would have had more movement on deadline day?

Yeah, the last 2 years have been weird with the lock out and then the olympics. Back to normality next year.

CAM wroteCOLONOh and how about that age old discussion of emergency injury callups during playoffs? That was promised to be a discussion for this upcoming seasons PO's? I am a strong believer that a team should have 1 or 2 emergency in week injury replacements until WED of each match.
i don't get the WED thing/limitation, but aside from that I wholeheartedly agree.
Unfortunately, there is the problem of finding a way to make it possible.
The last time it was discussed inside the CC you were still there and started a thread, which went down as follows:
kyuss wroteCOLONmr. bruin wroteCOLONI will bring this up again hoping to garner support to implement for this seasons playoffs.
With the variability of different teams games played being directly affected by real NHL teams and the inability to modify your roster after lock, I would like to give every team the possibility to make one or two(up for debate) injury related mid week adjustments during playoffs only. Or if this seems to be too much give each playoff team 2 adjustments during the whole of the playoffs. I know the idea had some support last year but nothing was ever done. Could we possibly support something like this. I know if i was in playoffs i would rather lose to my opponent on a fair standard not due to him losing players to injury. If a gm has done his job and built up reserves and NHL capable players to fill in for those reason, why not allow an injection when it is most needed, during playoffs? Say on a wednesday of a matchup?
Like what if I am in first round of playoffs and on Monday night i lose my starting goalie and the backup in the same game? Unlikely but possible especially for teams that only start one goalie. What if i lose 5 players to injury and i have 5 capable players sitting in reserves? What good are they if i cannot activate them in time of need. That is an extreme example but i think you get what i am trying to portray. I think the league would support this and i hope you guys would too.
as said in the past, i'm totally behind you as for the reasoning..
but we would need to find an effective way to make it happen.
The only thing i could think of is build an apposite league for our playoffs with settings that allow teams to be edited every day, like your standard league on yahoo. In our case that would only be allowed to replace injuries that get documented on our forums,i guess.
But i don't know if there is a platform that allows altogether:
- creating a league that late into the season
- having exactly the same stats we use
- daytoday moves
- editing players' position
Maybe CBS leagues can be set up like that and i just didn't know?
We would only need to create 16 teams and put NHLers into it, so that could still be worth. I just don't know if it's possible.
armandtanzarian wroteCOLONNick wroteCOLONIt cannot be recorded, especially not if either player had already recorded stats/played a game.
I did not know that or if i did it slipped my mind. Could we not switch to daily roster changes like Yahoo? Why should the stats be removed from the injured player? Do you mean if a player is used as a replacemnt his prior stats he would have accumulated from sitting on bench get added to the totals?

i think that's how it works under our current CBS format.. and the reason behind what i speculated in my post above.
no further comments ever followed, so i don't know if my yahoo proposal was even ever taken into consideration.
Now that we are about to leave CBS, we'll see if something like that will be possible under the new platform.
I'd be all for it, but it would take others' support obviously.

I'd probably lose interest fairly quickly if we switched to daily roster changes.. happens every time in yahoo leagues.

not what was ever brought up here though
in short, the idea was running only our playoffs through a platform that allows daily changes, and only allowing them to replace injured players

Or you could set a limit of say 3-5 one time injury replacements.
Also lee, no one said anything about daily rosters.
Im happy with the way it is but i dont think having a few injury replacements would hurt. Be a bitch to keep track of perhaps.

no, read the above discussion, you can't do that on CBS weekly format without screwing the matchup teams' stats

i thought he meant only for the playoffs? since the playoff is what was being discussed...
and switching to daily roster changes would not mean actually allowing free roster changes

My point is that there should not be an unlimited amount of these replacements, if this was to ever even be implemented.
And why just during the playoffs?

because that's when the winner is determined and that might make the work worth?

So what if me not grtting to use a replacement during the last week of the year keeps me out of said playoffs? That doesnt seem fair.

No point in just having it for playoffs only. Really not fair. Anyways im done with the subject for now. Might be an interesting discussion for the offseason though

Deadline's are pointless when 7/8 playoff teams are determined.
