I don't think there ever was a dispersal draft?

I always thought GMs picked a NHL team and were awarded the same players that NHL team had at that time.

That's how some guys managed to get great teams up till today

there was. we protected 30 players from the original NHL rosters. the remaining were put in a pool for the draft.

Would be interesting to do that again. Protect x players or x precent of your roster.

ahh, ok.

30 was not enough to protect anyone, but basically only prospects or fringe players were available?

that's what id be interested to go back and see. im sure there was some serious diamonds in the rough picked up.
